Nope...
Frantic reports out of Oxford are looking for the guy that didn't order the proper size roof paint mask that is only used with the white or black roof option...
The paint department accidentally ordered the masks earmarked for the 4th gen identified as G56 (Gigantic56)....
The G56 mask accidentally got into production with the F56 run and obviously didn't seal well around the roof molding..... Drips became obvious in short order....
Egads, push the Black / white option back to July........
Note: the black roof color option is similar but opposite the picture....

Each generation of Mini / MINI.... Have had critics of the next generation...
Not a big deal....
It just proves each generation is supported by fanatics that think their generation is the best....
They are most certainly allowed to be wrong....-

Boy has this got off the rails. Its been a long week and its time to blow off some stem.
I think its silly that you can't get a white/black roof, BMW should have done a better job planing.
Given the amount of tech and the new power plants I would be inclined to let them work out the bugs. But I understand not wanting to wait. My MINI is a very early 02, one of the first sold in my town.
As for bashing. Most is done in good fun. I am starting to feel like if you give a negative opinion your accused of bashing. I can't help it my MINI is better than everyone else's.
Also if your new don't let the squabbling put you off. We are helpful and friendly. Just some time we have difference of opinion. Thats ok.
Lets all put on our big boy pants. Its a car and just because it's not what I want to buy doesn't mean I'm not happy for those that like it. Show me the car you love and Ill get it.-

FYI first gen owner had to also put up with the same crap from other car owners with the whole "cute girl car", how much Gold do you have in the trunk? Oh and less not forget the classic mini owners that do not like any BMW MINI.-

If I were a dealer I would order my stock units in monochrome and paint the roofs when they arrived. That way I could meet the wants of those that like white roofs, black roofs, and monochrome roofs. (Red Roofs too). Or vinyl wrap them.

Well it seems to me that if someone builds their dream MINI only to find out they can not build it that way they just might be upset. Color is very important to many folks.
I have no dog in this fight, but I'd be miffed to be told I couldn't have an F56 in the contrasting colors I like. But I don't.-

True, but why would you EVER buy the first year or two of a new MINI production run. :confused5:
Early 1st Gens, had issues.
Early 2nd Gens, had issues.
Early 3rd Gens, already has issues.
Just saying.....
Just buy a discounted NEW R56 and be happy. I cannot believe I am saying this but an R56 is now as close to MINI build perfection as you will get right now.
The new F56 will take some time to have all the bugs worked out and if BMW / MINI history has showed us anything it takes 2 years.-

Overall, it is a sad situation....
Both with mini's rollout issues....
And future mini owners who have proven themselves as overly OCD...
Ever wonder if half the issues reported by owners are the result of a OCD owner who could never be made happy....let's face it...some folks get kinda crazy...especially when they feel they have spent a few to many $$ to get the car they want....
The old...they bought a car they really cannot afford...so the thought of ANYTHING EVER HAPPENING out of warrenty freaks them out...think this MIGHT be the bigger underlining issue for mini...they have gotten folks to spend a few more $$ than they feel the car is worth...so will never be happy...
On a side note....anybody know any may midget (er mini) tranny stripper hookers at the dragon? I have a cabin number...485!! Just kidding!!-

If you like or love a particular MINI, BUY IT.....
We will never tell you not too....cars are like women...you get what you like (or what you can afford-aka settle!!). But when you find your soulmate....life is great!!-

And, yes, my local dealer who broke the news to me has multiple black-and-white-topped F56s on the lot. They've even delivered a few very early black-and-white-topped F56 custom orders.

^^^ Um, okay ...
:frown2:
A couple of minutes of Googling will get you a wealth of information. For example, when BMW retooled the Oxford plant for the production of the F56 and other MINI models, it more than doubled the number of production robots to over 1,000. In addition, the plant is running three shifts because the number of F56 orders is strong. All of these things can contribute to production slowdowns that are unfortunate but should not be considered abnormal for a new model startup.
Also, in the UK dealers have been told that production of contrasting roofs is on constraint for May and June production. That means the number of MINIs with contrasting roofs will be limited - not stopped entirely. The UK dealers also were told to order MINIs without contrasting roofs for stock and demo use, so all available production could be devoted to customer cars. (Personally, I hate this idea because it makes the cool monochrome cars less rare.)rrr:
So, if you really want an F56 with a contrasting roof, don't give up your place in line now - or you'll be considerably older when you get your car if you wait to order it until after the constraint is lifted.
Take this information to your dealer, make him turn on his official MINI computer and say, "Hey, some knucklehead on MA found this information last night. Is this the way it's working for U.S. dealers too?" Or you could call the MINI toll-free line and ask someone there; sometimes those folks know a lot more than they're given credit for knowing.
Peace, love and good luck. :fingerscrossed:-
