Those recent DDOS attacks have created some havoc with the normally smooth functioning of Motoring Alliance. These include but are not limited too: 1. Trouble logging in. Some of you have reported that even after entering a username and password the system looks like it has logged you in but in reality it has not. I'm looking into this, I'm seeing it too. The current workaround is to clear browser cookies, then log in. 2. Some bounced emails. Some of you, mostly AT&T users are not getting site generated mail. AT&T has put the M/A IP on a blacklist. I've filled out the forms to be removed. It has been approved but can take up to 48 hours. Figure by Monday at the latest. I do see the bounce messages and reasons. I also subscribe to a blacklist monitoring service in order to stay on top of this. 3. Random Garage Images are sometimes broken. I'm scratching my head over this one. Odd issue, that for sure. 4. Tweets from the site were not being sent. This has been fixed, all new threads are now being tweeted again for those of you that follow MotoringAllianc on twitter. If you experience any odd behavior on the site please let me know. I haven't tested every little thing yet.
Not being computer savvy I sometimes forget how much work it takes for you to keep this happy funny farm up & running. Especially now that M/A is under attack. Thanks for all your hard work Nathan. This old fart & friend of yours appreciates it very much. :yesnod:
Welp..... The way I see it Nathan, you could probably use some more $$ support to help pay for the fight against these low life miscreants... With the increased costs you've incurred running the site, I'm sending you $125 so that I can become a LIFETIME MEMBER on M/A..... It will also let me be a part of the exsclusive club with Justa Jim....
Well I'm a lifer, but pay one year at a time. If I live long enough I'll contribute more than you lifer's do.
Yes to the ^^^^^^^. Nathan, nothing coming back from any of my contacts, yet. One thing I noticed today on my local Comcast with the new super modem Xinity is they are switching back and forth between ip4 and ip6, gotta call them on Monday and see if they think this is normal local behavior in my berg. Could explain some of my hangs/slowness local and when I try M/A where you servers are residing. Don
Nathan, my issues local appear to have been DNS servers from comcast not playing well with the net on my MAC. One of my contacts said they noticed a higher level of incidents, but nothing was getting through to them or affecting they services the provide. #2 son pointed my at an alternate dns which is playing well on the desk iMac, at least for now. Still getting a flip flop on IPv6 but hang issues and image loading issues seem to have gone away. Is your DNS solid on the servers?
Interesting. I am still experiencing the issue here. Wonder if it is because of my specific permissions. Have to investigate more.
Me too - yesterday and today. Had to log in on phone, iPad and computer. Today I'm also getting strange lists of ads at the end of every page - just words, no graphics. At the top of the list it says: Powered by vBadvanced CMPS v3.1.0.
