Eric just flip the logo over and spell the name backwards. At least that would be like what BMW has done to MINI.
Thanks for the input and advice. I think I'll wait a little longer and then try to touch base with my salesman. While I am not looking for hand holding from the dealership, I actually would like to go over some of the tech elements of the car again. "Second date" and the dealership's printed policies on services (car wash and vacuum after car service)are not items on which I insisted. In fact, second date is a mini sponsored program and the other services are things that the dealer advertises in its printed material. Don't think I am hard to please, just expect businesses to live up to their commitments. After all, that's what I and most other people I deal with in the business world do every day.
^^^^ yup I agree with you and BMW Oops MINI like to send out that kind of information but getting the Dealerahip on the same page sometimes is a different story. Oh and like others have said, do not let them wash your car unless you ike scratches. I don't care what they say they seriously F-up some cars up.
Thanks again, Dave O. I'll keep in mind your advice on washes. I have always washed and detailed my own vehicles up until about a year ago.... guess I as I got older, I was just starting to get lazy. But, your post has inspired me to recommit myself to doing my own detailing again. Really, I am so enamored with my mini. It is already surpassing the affection I had for my much beloved 1984 land rover d-90, a quirky but fun truck. Anyway, I will probably be picking some of the mini enthusiasts' minds here on some of the tech features of my mini. I am fascinated with the highly engineered features. Indeed, the highest tech feature of one of my previous rides, the defender, was the home made air conditioning. It consisted of a frozen bottle of water with a wet rag wrapped around it, setting the rag wrapped bottle in the front air vent, allowing mother nature to blow the cool, wet air into the cabin. Not quite as nice as the mini's dual climate control zones, but every car has its unique charms. Thanks again.
Yeah MINI's are more addictive than golf or crack. I find cleaning my MINI as relaxing time and a good way to destress from my job.
I might add that it's possible that you already know more about your MINI than your dealer. Hopefully not. And welcome, make yourself at home. Most of us are dedicated MINI nuts.
I love to play, or should I say, like to play golf, and have never done crack... But, I will admit that when I was much younger, my cars always seemed to look much better than they do now. I'm afraid it's likely due to always having to wash and wax those large red painted surfaces and polish stainless and chrome for so many years that I grew tired of it all. My rolling stock deserves better of me I know... Don't misunderstand, they're clean and shiny, but likely won't pass for concours. I'm still distressing from my job, by the way, six years after retiring...
I took delivery of my 2015 on 10/25/2014. There wasn't any "second date" mentioned. About 4-5 weeks after I got my 2011 Mini, a goody bag came in the mail but nothing for this one. I was never contacted by the dealer either, so I don't know if it is the dealership or the policy has changed since then.
You may be right, but the salesman did mention the second date. It would be helpful to go over some of the gadgets and gizmos that I might be overlooking. But, the members of this board have been helpful, and I am sure I will eventually get acclimated.
Does the dealer have a BMW Store too? If so you may want to call the Genius at the BMW store, the technology is the same. BMW Stores now are adding a Genius position much like an Apple Store to help people figure out to drive their new device with wheels.
"Genius"? IMO, much like "hero" our culture has successfully ruined the meaning of the word by applying it too broadly.
Nathan, thanks for the info. Yes, it is a mini / bmw dealership. I am getting accustomed and picking up some stuff from other owners. Also, I am going to give the salesman another shot at it. He seems like a nice guy... maybe just a little busy or maybe he's not the person who handles the second date. Anyway, minis are like anything else in life... the more you use it, the better or more proficient you become.
I always believe you should recognize the dealer when they do the right thing, not just when you have a gripe or complaint. Just heard from my salesman today to schedule the second date. Looking forward to asking some questions on technology and electronics issues. In particularl, the volume on the radio seems to stay on at same level when the voice on the navigation gives directions. Don't know if that is the design, but in my wife's car the radio volume diminishes when a navigation instruction comes on. Anyway, that is the type of thing that I think the second date is made for.
