You know, you all keep going on about the reliability thing, but I don't think MINI is exactly top of the charts either......

OTOH, there isn't a car made and sold today that isn't far better made and more reliable than anything from the 60's and 70's, where most are getting their prejudices, even a TATA Nano I'd bet.

Point being, anything currently sold and running the streets is probably a pretty decently made, reliable car - including the new 500, and pretty much anything running around Europe, French or otherwise.

Time to let go of those old prejudices and step into this century.....

I also would like to see some more variety, so bring the Fiats, Alfas, Renaults, Citroens, Peugeots, Skodas, Seats and all thier brethern on in - and Welcome!

Well..... Apparently this might be Fiat's only success with their whole venture of introducing the 500 in the US (so far)......

99 % of cars sold today will last for 100K easily (this is part of the problem for manufacturers because people do not NEED to buy cars as often)

For me I don't care how macho or girly a car looks I want it to be fun to drive. Everything I have read points to the Clio being the most fun front wheel drive car available. I just wish it was available here so I could try one out myself, well that and that they made a Cup chassis 4 door.

I like the look of the 500, but the wagon version just looks strange to me. I think it is because the door outline doesn't seem to flow with the rest of the side view.

I was following behind one the other day. From certain angles it kept making me think of a pear shaped woman with a big butt.

Best picture I could find that conveys it:

I see them fairly often now in the Bay Area. There are 2 or 3 in my neighborhood (vs like a dozen MINIs)

I noticed yesterday while driving thru town the surpising absence of large pickups and vans, as well as large cars.

I think the trend to smaller cars is really talking hold.

I'm not taking sides here, but haven't we seen those same (or similar) complaints about MINI's and their dealerships before? Just saying. :cornut:

I can honesty say I have had no complaints about my MINI, but back a year or so ago, I was very upset with my local dealer, to the point of really questioning if I would buy another (I'm sure Crash remembers that). Over the past year, MINI of Baltimore County has really turned around. They seem to have listened to their customers concerns and done something to address them. I have been there twice in the last month and could not be more pleased with the service I received. The dealership you deal with, can make of break your experience, this is true with any brand, but the blame always falls on the car itself, which is not always justified. We own two MINI's now and I am already planning the third.

Ok so some "I am Mr. Cool" in his new FIAT ABARTH pulled up next to me at a light the other day rev-ing his motor. We had two straight lanes wide open in the middle of the day out in the country so....

    Well you know me

    Let's go buddy.

The light turned green and he spun his wheels a little and took off. I watched him leave on purpose to see him launch. I am sure he was all happy with himself thinking he had the jump. I gave him about a 5 car head start. Then I took off in pursuit and wound out 1st and 2nd gear to just over 7k and as I was about to hit 3rd he was looking at me out his drivers window. :eek6::cryin::blush2::lol:

I ripped thought 3rd and 4th gears and blew his doors off by what looked like 20-30 yards. :ihih::devil::beer

After a good long lead he gave up and we both slowed down and drove for a while. When he caught up he was giving me the thumbs up out his window.

He took his a$$ kicking well.
