I clay ours before their twice a year major detail, and when there is something on the paint normal washing won't remove. Mark
hey jeff- no, i dont have plans to buy another car at the moment, just motoring the ones i have. my lifestyle kinda changed the last few years and just dont spend the kinda time i use to with my car hobby as a whole. but i luv'ed my MCS and it was a great fun car. <= blimey OD'ed on redbull. :ihih:
+1 on the vac. looks great. I clay my cars at least once a year, sometimes twice depending on how much contamination the car gets during use. i dont usually do the entire car unless i need to, just spot clay the areas where affected. i recommend that blue Meguiar's clay (posted earlier) if you haven't already tried it. OG sells them if you want to show OG some luv, or you can also buy it through amazon. i bought mine through amazon since my wife's a premium member and we get free shipping.
Twice a year but if I need to do spot work I'll clay and polish small areas. I also clay my summer and winter wheels as I rotate them off the car.
griot's having a sale on these hose nozzle hangers for only $12.99! check it out! www.griotsgarage.com i have one in my garage. it's well made...well, just a bent piece of metal painted red. hahaha.
Yeah the ramps are great. Very easy to drive up and they work well on my lowered mini so I am happy with them.:cornut:
No need for the elaborate nozzle hanger, but looking at the picture reminds me....I'm always looking for reasonably priced brass quick release couplers. Lowes and Home Depot are only sold in singles and they're pretty proud of theirs and Harbor Frieghts are garbage. Anyone know of a good place?
Try here; Lee Valley Tools - Important Announcement Great Canadian store, with U.S. distribution & pricing. They are having free shipping for the next week or so. Mark
Maybe someone can help me find this as I can't even find a picture of the product on the Mother's website. Has anyone seen or tried the Mothers Metal Polish that comes in a container that resembles an old Band-Aide tin and is a fiberous polishing compound kinda like Never-Dull? Backstory: At the Chicago HIN show yesterday I saw a C5 Corvette with BBS LM wheels. His wheels were pretty oxidized and the owner told me he was going to polish them, showed me the Mothers Metal Polish he used. I asked him where he got it and he said it was in an autoparts store but I've never seen this particular product before. I came back a bit later and his wheels really did look amazing.
huh, but if it's metal polish can't you just use WENOL? i recently started using Griot's metal polish with much success. add their disposable gloves and some towels and walla! metal polish kit. hahahaha.
I have a couple of different metal polishes, mostly I like Meguiars All Metal Polysh but this stuff, being that it's a fiber looks like it would be easy to use at a show or even weekly where the liquid and paste polishing compounds tend to get all over everything and then carefully have to be cleaned off the painted areas of the wheel.
so you're saying it was like magic eraser? i guess you can use such household cleaners if your wheels are bare and actually need "polishing" from time to time.
No, it's more like the fiberglass insulation in the walls of your house, strands of fiber you take a bit of and use to polish with. The thing it most reminds me of is Never-Dull wadding polish, which I may give a shot also, but I was impressed with how the Mothers version worked. And the Mr. Clean Magic Eraser works great for removing brake dust and road grime from a bathtub surround, if you ever encounter that problem.
