Sometimes you just got to go with the flow and not look a gift horse in the mouth. If the miss is gone then accept it and move on. If’n the wires haven’t been replace and they look a little suspect then by all means replace them and the tensioner if it’s making making noise.
I agree if that fixed it I would get new wires makes me wander if one has a short in it and moving it made a better connection
My homie said that the wasted spark actually working may be a timing thing, but I take his word with a grain of salt because he spends most of his time on carbed American v8s and not tiny boosted euro stuff. I would wholly agree with 00mini about not looking a gift horse in the mouth, but there still isn't something right, new wires and tensioner on the way. Wires are just the wmw brand that are oem equivalents. I am quite excited with the state of the car now. It feels like it becomes a better and better car with each thing I install or fix. Next weekend I'm going to take my first roadtrip to see my dad. I appreciate you guys for all the help and advice.
Road trip was cancelled due to my room mate having a corona scare. The little car never ceases to confuse me. Got the wmw wires, put them on the normal way, and the car turned on the check engine light before i even started getting on the throttle. It was even a whole new misfire, cylinder 1 instead of 2. Then I swapped 2 and 3, and the car went straight back to rippin' but, the ecu decided to give me a soft 5k rev limit, which confused me. Would the car still be in crisis mode after having just been in limp mode and that's why it gave me a soft limit?
it's limiting me just right before 5k rpm for some reason, i can't name why or how, I heard that bad valve train can cause something like this, but I can't tell if it's a fuel cut limit or the car just not wanting to go.
the previous owner put these weird studs in the valve cover that I couldn't get out, so I wasn't able to check the chain. But how the car is misfiring now is it will idle rough after the engine gets warm, and if it idles rough for too long it will go into limp mode and turn on the CEL. I am leaning most towards a stretched timing chain, but this weekend I'm going to put the old spark plugs in and do a compression test just to rule out a couple possibilities, and maybe even get my hands on better fuel injectors.
Why do you think you need new injectors? Get your car running right first. Throw too many parts at it all at once & you'll quite possibly end up chasing your tail.
i mean oem injectors not the upgraded ones, im pretty sure my current ones work just fine so im probably not going to do it.
Drop some Chevron Techron in the tank. It will help clean those injectors & if they are already clean it will help keep them that way.
I agree whole heartedly with this. Make a list of what needs to be checked and the order in which it should be done, and then do one item at a time so you have knowledge and can better understand where your problem is.
