Maybe they'll start making an aftermarket oil pan for the F56 that has an oil dipstick?

Ok.
This dipstick is ****. I am talking about the one for the first generation
Today after driving the car for 2 months knowing it burns oil I take the dipstick out and it shows full. Even looks like its more than full. Then I take the old one and check and it shows me below middle.

I just got my Gen 1 dipstick. It is silky smooth. I measured the length as compared to my stock unit and found that there is a little 'extra' on the Craven dipstick to more accurately monitor 'fullness'. It is easy to gauge the oil in the crankcase. And...it won't crack.

interesting. I bought my car with the Cravenspeed dip stick, and it kept indicating full. when I then replaced the oil (via extraction pump rather than let it run out), it was about 1 quart short. I figured it was not reaching all the way down or the oil was all in the filter I removed, etc - just never thought the dip stick could be indicating too high.
Filled it back up to "full" on the dip stick. Seems fine, but I always wondered about what happened to that one missing quart. Now we have a second car with the OEM dip stick - next chance I get I will swap them back and forth and see what the indicator shows on either dip stick. -

My MINI took 4 1/2 quarts when I changed the oil a couple of weeks ago. That took the oil level to the upper part of the top bulb on the OEM dip stick.

^^^ if the length of the Craven dipstick is correct (check it to the original)..... How can it not be fine?

Isn't there a stick on panic button available for MINI Cooper dashboards? I remember seeing a picture somewhere.

I'm not a big fan of the craven speed dip stick. The 1st gen is fine, easy to read (granted you know how to read a dip stick). Yes it gets brittle and could break. Its part of the maintenance program for these cars. Only buy OEM replacements.
btw, have a gen 1 craven dipstick in a box that I tried. Happy to sell it. PM me. -
