Maybe they'll start making an aftermarket oil pan for the F56 that has an oil dipstick?

They do, but when you open the box it's empty!

That empty box is still gonna cost you 75 big ones though.

We do actually, seriously, have a plan for how we could add one. Like DneprDave said, we would have to replace the oil pan. It would cost close to $250 plus a core charge.

I am not so sure there is going to be enough interest in doing that, anyone thinking otherwise?

    Ok.
This dipstick is ****. I am talking about the one for the first generation
Today after driving the car for 2 months knowing it burns oil I take the dipstick out and it shows full. Even looks like its more than full. Then I take the old one and check and it shows me below middle.
    Bunch of ********

I just got my Gen 1 dipstick. It is silky smooth. I measured the length as compared to my stock unit and found that there is a little 'extra' on the Craven dipstick to more accurately monitor 'fullness'. It is easy to gauge the oil in the crankcase. And...it won't crack.

interesting. I bought my car with the Cravenspeed dip stick, and it kept indicating full. when I then replaced the oil (via extraction pump rather than let it run out), it was about 1 quart short. I figured it was not reaching all the way down or the oil was all in the filter I removed, etc - just never thought the dip stick could be indicating too high.

Filled it back up to "full" on the dip stick. Seems fine, but I always wondered about what happened to that one missing quart. Now we have a second car with the OEM dip stick - next chance I get I will swap them back and forth and see what the indicator shows on either dip stick.

My MINI took 4 1/2 quarts when I changed the oil a couple of weeks ago. That took the oil level to the upper part of the top bulb on the OEM dip stick.

When changing oil you always put in X amount and that was full on the factory dipstick then where ever it shows up on the Craven dipstick would be the full reference point.

Without doubt the cravenspeed dipstick is the shittest thing ive bought for my r53. Its false readings due to its different length and the fact its 'floppiness' when pulling it out means it drags all the oil up the tube making it impossible to read.

Also sent them a message and got no answer why this happens.
They have upgraded the old one, but I am still stuck with that shitty design

7 posts since November of 2015 and all of them complaining about a dipstick. Thanks for your contributions to this forum. We get it, you don't like your dipstick.

What what is this dip stick think? I have never used it. I drain all the oil then I fill it with new oil 0w-40 until a little is running out of the filler cap. Then I crank it up when it quits spewing oil everywhere I know it has enough oil for the next two years. On average it takes 5 or 6 gallons of oil. I do this in the street because its messy. It will spit a few gallons on the ground.

Now if I could find out why my Mini runs so bad.........it must be that 0w-40 some old fart told me to use.
