All the racing events I've experienced give you something you never get on TV. Sports cars, prototypes, F1, tractor pulls, monster trucks, motocross, autocross, vintage, and offshore power boats (so far) provided sounds, smells and sights you have to be there to understand. Not to mention the stories!

I've tried to explain the feeling to friends before, but it's not something you can comprehend unless they actually experience it like you have. Next, you'll have try standing in the paddock near the car when they blip the throttle.
I don't know how the drivers and crew standing around the starting line keep their hearts beating normally when the force reverberates through their bodies. :eek6:-

Went to an Automotive Career Day held at Pomona Raceway when my son was in high school. While we were sitting in the grand stands Schumacher and his top fuel crew show up about 20 yards off the grand stands and demonstrated how fast they could tear down and re-assemble an engine. When they finished Schumacher jumps in and lit that bad boy up, I know exactly how ole boy felt. Quite the rush.
