For those that have stayed in a cabin at Fontana in the past, what can I expect to be supplied? Pots, pans, plates, silverware, paper towels, dishwashing detergent? Hairdryer, towels, toiletries? Anything else you can think of, I am certain I am forgetting essentials to ask about. Since space is at a premium in a MINI Cabrio, I dont want to lug a bunch of unnecessary stuff down there. We are in a 3 Bedroom Magnolia if cabin type makes any difference. Also a couple of people have mentioned the pool. I cant remember if it was open last year at this time so can anyone confirm that it will be open? TIA!
the village does have a small general store with some of basic necessities. I did called Fontana and they said they include plates and cups (usually service for 4 in a two bedroom and service for 6 in a 3 bedroom) Towels are definetely include. She was pretty sure that paper towels and some dish soap was included as well. No blow dyers are in the cabins. Hope that helps.
I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that the Magnolia cabin's fridge comes stocked with beer. Thanks for the info Snooter! If anyone else wants to chime in with suggestions of things to pack for the cabins, I'm still listening.
We stayed in the 'camp'n cabins' and the basic is there.. If they have no pots and pans ( in the older cabins) we just run to town and hit the shelter stores and buy what we need.. then toss it on the way out.. or not! If you want the 'Ritz' that is there also.. just break out the wallet!! Just me................................. Thumper
They have towels... they're just ok and not real big so we bring our own. We always get extra tp and food at the grocery store in Robbinsville to save on packing supplies in an already full car. No tuppaware or the like so we ended up using zip lock baggies alot.
Basic pot, pans, flatware, glassware, kitchen utensils and dishes will be in your cabin. You have a 3 BR, so there should be at least enough for 6. There should also be a coffee maker, a toaster, and a blender. Just an FYI....generally, cleaning supplies aren't included with the cabins. Here's what I take: Clorox wipes a couple of sponges...one for surfaces, one for doing dishes dish soap...Fontana's sporadic about supplying this, and I have a spaghetti dinner to clean up after, so I take my own. a small dust pan and broom You also might want to take ant traps..we had a serious invasion last year even though we kept the kitchen very clean. I take my own bath towels and TP...in both cases, the ones the Fontana supplies are thin. Items at the General Store are very pricey.....I only buy there in a pinch. In years past, the pool was open but rarely have I experienced weather really hot enough to use it. Besides, that pool water will be freezing!
Thanks to all who have replied so far. I especially appreciate the cleaning supplies and ant trap tip. Another specific question: Is there a microwave in the cabins? I thought those were pretty standard fare but kgdblu's response was pretty inclusive and didnt list a microwave so I thought I would ask. Great news about the blender, that means margaritas!
Jim, I'm sure you'll get plenty of time at the MoM cabin eating donut and telling stories! Sent from my Droid using Tapatalk
Far out. I didn't know we were going to have a club house at MOTD. It can't get any better then that and I will be "actually" there. Jim
Hey now, don't rain on my wifi parade. Does anyone know what I can expect to find in a Queen Lodge room? (Other than 2 queen beds...) A fridge or anything?
