I've always had a soft soft in my heart for Ford....
They didn't take/need bailout money, and my dad worked his entire life as a cost analyst for Ford.
When he passed away his entire plant was closed for the day of his funeral and everyone attended. It was very touching.
Back on topic: at one point I had a Focus... not a bad little car. Would own one again perhaps.

Most profitable car makers
Jaguar and them sold to Tata
Volvo and them sold to Chinese manufacturer Geely
Mazda and still own partially
Most profitable car makers. Interesting article.
Mr Money: the most profitable car companies - Telegraph
1) Volkswagem 21bi but it is one impressive group VW, Audi, Skoda, Seat, Lamborghini and Bugatti have led to that healthy annual profit.
2) Ford 20bi but I've been stressing for years that, for a bread and butter car maker, Ford's retail prices are way too high and I've no doubt that it's this premium pricing policy that has enabled Ford to get so surprisingly rich. But I also have to concede that since consumers are seemingly happy to pay these prices, Ford can hardly be blamed for charging them.
Be proud of being American but if you own a German car/cars don't feel bad, don't feel ashamed because FORD is doing good.-

Just not so much on a track. We have a nickname for them at HPDEs: "Spinaroonies". Short wheel-base + TONS of low end torque + novice to moderate skilled driver = SPINClick to expand...

Saw a cobra with Shelby's signature on the glove compartment, where I have my car tuned...Sheer lust.
The RS would be on my short list if I ever got out of the MINI--provided it ever makes it state side. It kills me--Europe's gas prices are sky high, and they're known more for economy than we are here in the U.S., yet the RS doesn't see the light of day here.
I asked a few poobahs at Ford about this--and the bottom line is Ford feels the perception of the Focus in the U.S. is that of an econobox, and no one will be willing to pay slightly south of 40K for a "Focus". Despite the fact that at under 40K, that car would be a performance bargain. And the Focus in the RS version is drop dead gorgeous.
Still waiting to see if the RS version of the Fiesta will ever see the light of day--that would be even higher on my list than a Focus.-

That is arguably the biggest bang for the buck performance car out there. Needs better brakes, but other than that, it's a purpose built track beast that happens to be street legal. Nothing else comes close, not even the new GP.Click to expand...
Next iteration of Mustang might have IRS. They also might have a turbo V6 as thier "GT" model. Then it won't be a Mustang any more. Regardless of badging.-

We'd have moved it if need be, and I have this nifty tool that sends you a note that we moved a thread and where it has been moved. -
I wasn't sure of the formate to post stuff like this on here. I am a auto news mod on one of the other auto forums I'm on.

:cornut: American Car speaking, I've always been a Ford man at heart. The car sounds nice. Now how about a down sized, light weight, Mustang with turbo charged engine and 4 wheel independent suspension(and all of the goodies). Dream...............................................

The local Ford dealer wanted a deposit from me to test drive it. But they would let me drive a Mustang GT without one.

If I had to buy a new car tomorrow, it'd be an ST. With the exception of the touch screen, that car is awesome. Great power, great fuel efficiency, more room than the MINI, and good hatchback styling.
