That is where MINI Owners post their overpriced sales, exciting trips, photos of food, and send you a friend request...confirm.

Well he did sum up everything very well about how unique the R53 was to produce. I also think that's why all the first gen cars have a soul, someone cared about what they designed and put up a fight to build it by design and make it WOW unique.

Now cars are designed and built like washing machines with all kinds of crap you don't need and without a soul. No ones cares about the end product unless its really ugly and they don't sell like the fist gens did.

If I was looking at a new car I would be looking at a VW GTI, a Camaro ZL-1 or a CTS-V Coupe.

What I could buy right now is a new POS Hyundai beater which comes with a 10 year 100 K warranty.
Why a Hyundai? Because I would not want to mod it at all unlike the others above.

Oh don't get it wrong I am never getting rid of my R53 but I would buy another one or two R53's or a original GP.

If it's really FS in that thread, you're dead on--in that thread the real or unreal Frank wrote that he thought the MINI should have gone more futuristic, and broken away from the R53 mold to go in a different design direction; he wrote that he felt MINI has boxed itself in similar to what Porsche did with the 911. I never really looked at it that way before, but it does make a certain amount of sense, especially when you factor in the Euro laws.

I'm coming around to the fact that maybe with the new design constraints a "modern" looking MINI that breaks away from the R53 mold wouldn't be a bad thing. At this point I think it would be better than taking the basic shape and adding to it--the car is, at this point, out of proportion, especially from the side angle where the nose overhang is brutal. I think it's time to get off that.

On the other hand, he mentioned he'd like to see a smaller, more economical MINI in the line up (Rocketman anyone). Can't argue with that.

That would make it hard to drink the milk :D

If they made a light weight coup and supercharged it that may get me.

I just don't see anything I like more than my MINI. The GTI is nice and so is the BRZ but I just can't give up my MINI. Their are a few mods I would like to do. Then it will be perfect.

I'm going the optimistic route and hope that it's legit. Might get burned, but if it's an imposter, it's a good one.

I can't believe more people haven't jumped into to it--I mean it's Frank Friggin' Stephenson after all (Or might be Frank Friggin' Stephenson).
