There was a programming error, cars are coming in for service at 10k-20k saying it needs brakes....Most do NOT need brakes they just need a reprogram , takes a few hours for them to do the re-program....Not saying this is the case with your MINI, just what I have seen coming in to the Service dept as of late.

Life of brake pads is so hard to predict. Driving style & types of roads play a big role in how they last. Some folks can get 80,000 miles out of a set & others can use them in 10,000 miles.

Ditto, the only thing you can do is just keep checking them, when they need it, they need it.
I didn't have to change mine until almost 90k, had to change rotors too but the pads had just evened out with the wear indicator groove. -

OEM pads last longer than EBC's.
But every pads life depends on how each driver uses the brakes. The more you use them the faster they wear out just like your gas tank. -
