    2006 JCW head is the same as non-JCW, no?

    JCW head has extra porting on the exhaust side.
    Since it was designed for R53 engine, the valves are harder than a R50.
    R50 engine with JCW head is about 128 hp.
    Not sure what the increase is with R53.

    No. It was supposed to be slightly ported, effectiveness of which was debatable.

    That depends on application and who you talk to.
    The effective change on a R50 is 12+ hp.

    It was removed from 06 R53.
    It will fit on any R50, 52 & 53.

    Why was it removed and was the car it came off of a factory JCW car?

    The car was an 06 MCS JCW with 9K original miles.
    In Nov, 2010, car was parked in detached 2 car garage.
    Winster storm toppled tree which fell thru garage roof, crushing Mini.
    I purchased complete engine.
    Sold block.
    Car was in complete running order when destroyed.
    When head was removed, you could still see the hone swirl marks in the cylinders.
    Like brand new.
