With all the MINI's coming, hopefully a bunch of them are Justa's, so there will be enough gas for you other folks.

Good rule of thumb is to always top off on the way back from a day trip or run, especially if its the last of the day. That way you always head out fuel heavy....lol

I've called or emailed Fontana, Deals Gap Resort, Graham County Chamber of Commerce and Swain County Chamber of Commerce and let them know how many people and MINIs we have coming, in an effort to make sure they have enough gas, food, staff, etc. If nothing else, they can't say they have not been warned

Methinks someone didn't plan their motorcycle event very smartly.
And I suspect there will be motorcyclists who complain big time about all the MINIs there that weekend.
Because, you know, we just kinda picked that weekend spur-of-the-moment-like. No way anyone could have predicted that the Dragon would have been swarming with MINIs the first weekend of May, 2012.
:rolleyes5:-

Yep, at the Dragon, "half full" == "almost empty"
True for both gasoline and beer.-

Just got off the phone with Deals Gap Motorcycle Resort and they said we are free to fill up on Wed and Thursday. Friday and Saturday they will have the parking lot taped off for a Motorcycle event. We can parked across the street if you want to visit the store, but gas will not be available Friday and Saturday. (they Friday might me questionable, but Saturday was definitly a no)

Guess I just did a good job of avoiding it on Friday and Saturday last year. I just remembered being able to use the lot for the Midnight run and didn't know it had been closed prior to that.

....one would hope that with so many great roads in that area that most will venture farther than just the Tail itself, where there will be opportunities for refueling....

+1 to top up on returning from last run of day. There are several stations/brands in Bryson City and Cherokee that are usually cheaper than Fontana and Deal's Gap. Best bet is TN side if on a drive there. Fuel taxes are significantly lower in TN than NC.

There use to be a Chevron, near the car wash heading into Robbinsville from the Dragon. Last year it still said it was "ethanol free" but no brand sign. Not sure what it is.
