Fuel up at the beginning of the day and you should be good for the day. I just got back from the Dragon on Sunday. I was out there for 10 hours a day on Friday and Saturday (129, Skyway, Rt. 28, etc.) and a tank was plenty. Thunder Mountain on the NC side of the Skyway has premium and there's plenty of fuel in Robbinsville.
Just got off the phone with Deals Gap Motorcycle Resort and they said we are free to fill up on Wed and Thursday. Friday and Saturday they will have the parking lot taped off for a Motorcycle event. We can parked across the street if you want to visit the store, but gas will not be available Friday and Saturday. (they Friday might me questionable, but Saturday was definitly a no)
Not good.... Have to be even more careful. Doubt I and my money will be visiting their store Friday and Saturday either...
Methinks someone didn't plan their motorcycle event very smartly. And I suspect there will be motorcyclists who complain big time about all the MINIs there that weekend. Because, you know, we just kinda picked that weekend spur-of-the-moment-like. No way anyone could have predicted that the Dragon would have been swarming with MINIs the first weekend of May, 2012. :rolleyes5:
They had the same event last year. We could not get on the parking lot till after 11:30 PM for the Midnight drive. It's a big area, lots of others will be there too that weekend. The TT Group is usually there that weekend too. The Rotary folks start showing up Saturday too.
Guess I just did a good job of avoiding it on Friday and Saturday last year. I just remembered being able to use the lot for the Midnight run and didn't know it had been closed prior to that.
Just remember we already have 1000+ minis, so the whole "get gas in the morning" or " top off" may be harder than you think. :arf: have fun with that!
I understand the store caters to motorcyclists but the resturant needs all the customers it can get!!!
With all the MINI's coming, hopefully a bunch of them are Justa's, so there will be enough gas for you other folks. Jim
....one would hope that with so many great roads in that area that most will venture farther than just the Tail itself, where there will be opportunities for refueling.... "If you told me we were in Nebraska I couldn't say different..." -Spoken last year over the radio by Bthayer during one of our runs...LOL
It's a shame that we can't work out a volume discount on the price of premium if we utilize them as our exclusive MOTD supplier. :smile5:
