Just dawned on me that the poker run is on Friday and months ago I called Deals Gap to confirm we could use the parking lot as one of the stops and they said no problem. Today they are now saying we cannot, that would have to park across the street and walk over.........very disappointing
I know they are a "motorcycle resort" but from a business and cash flow stand point I would much rather have 1000 cash wielding customers verses ~200 maybe. :confused5:
You but who do you piss off...the 1000 that are there once or the 200 that are there 35 or so weekends a year? Not that I agree with the actions of the store there but I understand where they may be coming from with a long term business outlook.
I'm just disappointed that after having about 2-3 conversations in the past 3 months and being assured each time that we would be OK, that they could not work it out with a small portion of the lot for the two hours that we needed it. I understand that motorcylces are there bread and butter, but you word and commitment should also mean something as well. Celia will be going over there earlier in the week. Hopefully they can work with her to make it happen for all parties involved.
You have to understand that to the motorcycle crowd, we are just a bunch of carpetbaggers... They started the whole tail of the dragon thing and the sports car crowd caught on later. That store was there at the beginning and it is a motorcycle resort, catering to such... The motorcycles don't own the road though as some think but they do pretty much control that store...
I've found them to be very nice. We are the outsiders, I've always shown respect to them as they are the locals etc. In treating them as that, I've always found them to be polite.
