    I've seen that done with homemade wooden skids as well, which leave a nice long trail of sawdust on the pavement. Just glue a square dowell to the lead edge, and go.

    When I was stationed on Okinawa 68-69 we would see them take off frequently from Kadena AFB. Really way ahead of their time back then and even now.
