2nd Gen R56 Cooper S Most liked posts in thread: Gas mileage?

That sounds about right to me. I get about 29 miles/gallon. I mostly drive around town all week. I got much better gas mileage in my '03 Cooper, but I have a feeling the extra pep in the S makes me drive a little more spirited

 

My '06 JCW gets about 19 mpg in city driving. My '05 MCc gets about 22. I think my right foot is broken and is stuck in the ON position.

 

My 09 JCW hardtop with less than 2000 miles and only city driving is at 21.

 

When we go on long Interstate trips, our 08 Clubman S gets 36-38 MPG, going about 10% over posted limits. Hauling the trailer we lose about 2-3 MPG. Around town, it gets mid 20's.

Now my 03 MC gets low to mid 30's, and I never putt putt it around

Rixter, do your calculations using Imperial gallons, as apposed to U.S. gallons, and your MPG will go way up:lol:

Without knowing how you drive, that sounds reasonable. I was getting about 33 mpg in my daily driving, about 75% highway. That did drop to about 31 mpg when I put new (stickier) tires on and I've probably lost another .5 - 1 mpg with the winter blend of gas.

im 75% hwy and see about 37 in my S... more highway gets me like 39.4 usually. This is according to the OBC...i reset it each fillup. 93 octane

The conversion to metric was done "soft". Meaning some things changed quickly, others not so much. I worked as a carpenter in Canada for over 30 years, and never once worked in metric. Babies are still measured in inches, and weighed in lbs mostly. Road signs have been metric for decades now, but few people think of litres per 100 kilometres.

Not only are The Simpsons a staple on Canadian TV, they did an episode in Winnipeg, my home town

Almost 1400 miles in my '10 MCS and the computer says I'm getting almost 31 MPG. I drive like an idiot...lol

 

The computers read high. Count on at least 10% less.

Was getting about 9.2 mpg today. Before I blew the clutch.

 

Compared to my scangauge my OBC actually reads conservatively. The scangauge readouts seem to be about 2% high while the OBC is closer to 10% low on my car.
