1st Gen R53 Cooper S Gauges died, now car wont start. 02 R53.

    Another thing, my buddy works for a BMW mechanic and with their computer was able to get all the functions of the gauge going in a test state.

    Unfortunately their computer isnt adding any information I didnt already have through my own tests.

    Bumping this with the solution. If a mod could update my title to solved please?

    So Im a ******* (dumb butt, didnt realize you couldnt curse on here.), and Im lazy, and I work from home so I dont need the car to get around thats my excuse for taking so long to fix it.

    F40 5A Control module for instrument panel/Switch panel/Steering angle sensor

    I never checked this one because the little logo on the panel looks like its for something totally different. So all my trouble was caused by a 5amp fuse.

    Good to hear that you found the problem !! The only people who haven't made a simple mistake are the ones who haven't worked on anything. :Thumbsup:
