Look, I have one of these in my garage so I must be the Ultimate Hater.Love this color combo.
The paint looks much better now since I have clayed, polished entire car to remove all factory “defects” and Dealership new car Prep. OMG, dealerships should never have power tools on paint or be allowed to Paint Prep a new car.
Yes, The entire car now has two coats of Gyeon Pure but the paint would have not looked that good it I did not make it flawless first by removing all the dealer crap the put on it. All trim has been coated with Gyeon Trim, tires treated with Gyeon Tire amd Glass treated with RainX.
Look at black paint on the roof and mirrors!

This weekend I drove an Alfa Giulia it had a 7 speed automatic in it. That car was very fast and handled great. I would prefer a manual but that transmission was not bad.

That's what happens when you make changes not a lot of people cared for. Not knocking the car, they catered to a very small group who were in the market for such a car & then they priced it too high. I think this new one will fit that mold also & maybe more so.

My friends water cooled 996, but man what a back road drive. Should have bought one 5 years ago when the market was low for them.

Yes there are several things that Dave and I disagree on, but, the man is a true Artist when it comes to detailing. Can even make a guppy faced Gen3 look absolutely fantastic.
MINI USA should hire him to detail the GP3 that they use for the debut here in the States.-

I LOVED the DSG in my MkV GTI. That was TONS of fun. I tracked both a Cayman R and a 718 Cayman GTS with a PDK and they were sublime to drive. You are truly in control. Hold a gear, slap a paddle for the next, downshift like a boss.
This is counter to the automatics (or worse the CVTs) that "have paddle shifters" which are just there as feel good buttons. They are slow to react and will upshift at the slightest hint of revs even if you want to hold a gear. They suck.-

N2MINI MINI of the Month
but keep in mind there is a big difference in buying a 40 year old Ferrari and a $40,000 New MINI for the person who isn't just flat loaded with money... The maintenance and repairs on it compared to the MINI if both driven much will be thru the roof...
I would compare it to other new cars like a M2 BMW, Mustang GT, 370z etc... or if I had 40,000 just laying around a Factory Five Cobra Replica all new everything so it'd be like a new car with warranty actually...-

I asked at my local dealer. They said they had no information about them yet and MINI USA hasn't even told the dealers if they will get any allocated to them at all. They also said it's against policy to take deposits on cars, on which, they can't confirm delivery.
So that guy has a deposit on a phantom.-

This is why, as much as I tried, I generally don't post in M/A. If you hate the F56s so much why are you in the F56 area of forum at all? You all sound like a bunch of old dudes on their porch mis-remembering "the good old days" that never were and aren't coming back.
I am waiting to see the actual car (sounds like New York Auto Show for the reveal) before "passing judgement". Hell, if they are as cool as the leaks purport them to be I may be one of those "dumb buyers" that gets one.-

To me comparing a 1977 - 911 to a 1997 - 996 is similar to what you have comparing the Gen1 to Gen3 Mini. The earlier models of either brand are smaller in appearance with the later models reflecting design changes required by more modern crash requirements. The 991 is even larger looking than the 996 reflecting another 20 years of development.
The Gen3 is unmistakable as a MINI just as the 991 is as a Porsche. A Gen1 that is in the 205 BHP area is a great car, a Gen3 with 300 BHP and 2020 amenities is even better.-
