Nope. 4 doors is two too many, and the same reason I cancelled my order for the VW R.

I would rather have 2 doors. But the styling of the 4 door still looks good, so its not a show stopper for me.
I guess the other part is I am a little put off by MINI. First they had to screw with the Prodrive rally team when clearly they could have been a top runner. Then they get some no names to drive, they lose and then they quit. What brain trust did that. Then you have all the crap MINI has been peddling with the new cars………..never mind.
Ford on the other hand is doing some really cool stuff. And they didn't take a hand out from the government! Ford is not to chicken to compete world wide.

I love my R53 and what Mini did stand but they have changed.

You are right on a couple of counts with the cars above. Frankly, the Focus and current WRX/STI's are just horribly ugly cars, in my opinion. Also, I wouldn't want a hopped-up version of what began as an economy-minded, grocery-geter car. That's just me.

The Mini has always been a blast to drive, and look at in any trim level. They were designed from day one to be really fun to motor in, driver's cars....The Focus...not so much....

they can put as much horsepower, suspension pieces, and scoops/spoilers/vents they want on the car....it's a Ford Focus...

It will be the 4 door body style.

I love my wife's ST. I can imagine the RS with all wheel drive and more power would be incredible.

I'll stick with my MINI for now.

If I want or need 4 doors I will use our SUV.

I like the car I just want 2 doors. Just think about if Mazda released a 300 + Hp Miata with 4 doors you would want the two door also. :ihih::idea::lol:

It will be 4 door as mentioned. Predictions based on semi-solid, almost liquid in consistency, information: It probably will not have AWD, the car testing on the ring currently, doesn't. It will have substantially more than 300HP. Think along the lines of 330ish, maybe higher.

It should be a flat out rocket, I can't wait to see the final specs.

Just another example to the fact that us the car nuts are the minority when they decide which cars to offer/sell where. Our MINIs come from overseas so why not ship us the 2 door RS with this engine!! I might would be interested in it.. Cost is a non-issue. Just tac on $800 destination charge like everyone else.. Sense I'm not a big Focus fan to start with for the money I'd buy the Mustang GT. That's just me though..

I have my MINI and my wife has the ST.

So you would buy an ST or RS because it's a Focus. So no WRX or STI because they're Impresas, no EVOs because they are Lancers, no M3 because they are 318s, no Golf R because they're Golfs...

The current generation of Focus is completely different then the old ones and the ST is a huge step up from the base car. Go drive one, scare the salesman, then come back.

No I won't give up my MINI for it. But it nicer on long trips.

I know my taste and style and I don't care how much power a car makes or its fuel economy. If the car is ugly or it has 4 doors I am not buying it. I modify every car I buy and I have a standard for style that I have to start with before I make it my unique style.

I get where you are coming from, but I don't agree with it. In fact, this is EXACTLY why Ford didn't bring the first RS over, this perception.

It's not "just" a Ford Focus. The car is phenomenal at what it does on the track, in way that it's a totally different animal than a stock Focus. It is a purpose built car that shines at what it was designed for, with some revolutionary technology thrown in along the way. It may look like a Focus on the outside (and I agree 100% a Focus isn't the best looking hatch out there, and I wish Ford would have done more to distinguish it from the ST, more along the lines of the original RS), but it's totally different beast on the inside.

It's why the numbers are going to be severely limited in the U.S., but there are going to be a few hardcore people who will desire it, and that's who it's built for--people who want it for a specific purpose, rather than what it resembles. And admittedly this is a relatively small number of people, and I realize fully mine is a minority opinion.

I was on the top of the list for our local dealer, until they sold the dealership a couple of years ago, but I would have passed on it. Mainly because this looks like the bottom of the line RS; I STRONGLY suspect there are even more powerful RS's in the works, maybe an RS 500 type of thing, and a detuned ecoboost, which is essentially what Ford has done, really pisses me off.
