The drinking and sitting on the toilet are the worst parts and that is not too bad with the newer drinks that only require you to drink about 2 liters. Just plan to have something good to read for the early morning hours.
The actual procedure is nothing to worry about, very quick, simple, and painless. I changed into their gown, got put to sleep, and woke up ready to go home.-

The first round of prep is done. The Draino they gave me only requires two 5-ounce doses, followed by lots of water/clear liquids. It didn't taste good, but it wasn't horrible.
Round two (second dose) starts soon.

I slept like crap last night, but got there before sunrise for my anal probing. Wouldn't it be funny if some endoscopy center made their offices look like a flying saucer.
So, I'm laying on a gurney, waiting my turn, and I hear a familiar voice through the curtain. It was a friend of mine -- an anesthesiologist. He is a fellow car enthusiast, although his rides are way out of my league. Over the last ten years, he's owned three R8s (one V8 and two V10s), three or four GT3 RSs, a McLaren MP4-12C and a few other knick-nacks.
He has a great vanity plate on his Cayenne GTS... SANDMAN.
He administered the anesthesia. Small world.
Feeling pretty good, now.

I've had a few. During one, I became coherent enough in the middle to see the monitor and say "ohhhhh, I always wondered what that looked like!"
They ramped up the happy juice and I was back under immediately.-

Im glad you will get to go home. I hope they didn't use the same scope on the upper side as the lower side. If I were you I would not ask.
Hope your back in the Mini soon.-

I have a pretty high tolerance for pain. I've had a couple of concussions, and I've lost count of the broken bones and stitches.
What I have a low tolerance for is discomfort. I'd rather get punched in the face by Mike Tyson than do five days with the flu. Going face to sheet metal with a cargo van while riding my bicycle sucked, big time. But, I didn't know it was coming, and it was over quickly. I've had a month to think about this colonoscopy, and what a PITA (pardon the pun) it is going to be.

Way better than my last one. I had to drink ~ a gallon of the stuff and of course the VA didn't spring for the flavored kind. Came out to 8oz every 15 minutes until it was gone. I'm due for another one in a couple of years.

Since drinking that Tang Koolaid is no longer on my bucket list, I think I'll pass on my next scheduled colonoscopy or get some other concoction [that I'll never drink again] to ease myself into that mode again.

SANDMAN, many possible meanings but at least he was not doing the scope too.
Glad you slept well, here is to good results and stay out of the flying saucers.
