We put our decorations up in early Nov. (on a 'nice' day) and we turn them on Thanksgiving night. They stay up till 12/25 and are take down on the next warm day. Our artificial tree goes up on the day after Thanksgiving, and it is really fun seeing all the special ornaments we have collected over the years on the tree. And this year I asked Santa for Koni shocks for Christmas. It was either that or a RMW stoker engine.
We put up our xmas tree on xmas eve and take it down on the fifteenth of January. My wife follows the Russian calendar for the holidays, because that's what they did when she was a kid, their new year is January 14th.
I set out the menorah on the kitchen table on the first night of Channukah, light the candles each night for 8 days. Then put the menorah back in the cabinet till next year. Is it too soon for Hannakkah Carols? [ame="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R7JiDBi_v4c"]How Do You Spell Channukkahh - YouTube[/ame]
Awww man, that means I'll also have to compete with REI employees at Walmart on Black Friday. And they have better equipment to camp out for the door opening.
Okay, I'm in. But if this is some sort of drinking game where I take a sip every time I see way-too-early holiday decorations I'm not going to make it.
That is a great idea. I'm going to play the game by myself and put my decorations up this weekend. Just think of the fun I'll have getting home...
I have two young daughters (ages 7 and soon-to-be-5), so our Christmas decorations go up right after Thanksgiving and stay up until the first week of the New Year. The absolute glee on their little faces as they help hang ornaments on the tree, and then every night when we turn on the lights, is completely worth it. Now back to my pre-holiday shopping... hmm, new designer purse, or car parts? Decisions, decisions... :ihih:
