Have a safe trip, Dave! We are leaving on May 1 and spending the night in Sweetwater. Then, it's over the Cherohala Skyway to Fontana on Tuesday. Like you, the car is ready...new tires, new fluids, and some new stickers, too.

Leaving Chi on 5/1, overnight in Alcoa, Tuesday Donuts, Foothills, Dragon, Fontana, Sylva for some of Dieter's (Heinzelmannchen) great beer, Bryson City for lunch at the Filling Station and (OF COURSE) a cone at Soda Pop's followed by the drive back to Fontana to get ready for the Spaghetti Dinner (THANKS Katie). Then the rest of the week doing MOTD things and leave Sunday a.m. to head home.

Welcome to M/A!
Read some of the other threads of MOTD lodging. It's NEVER too late to try for lodging. Earlier, Goldsmithy had a great recommendation for a little place a few miles from Fontana, down Hwy 28. Good luck! -

I just got a call from the Lodge yesterday confirming my reservation. I'd been on the waiting list since MSSD last year. This year I'll reserve it for the next MOTD instead of waiting again. Give the Lodge a call. Can't hurt.

Well, it's starting again. The three years I have gone to the Dragon have always been a hassel before I could really get on the road. I thought this year would be different. I have all the mechanical/body mods done and my car is running strong. All I have to do is detail...right?
I started today. I got everything ready. I go to wash my car...and no water. It appears that the outside faucet isn't working. Bummer...waiting on a plummer.:mad5: -

At least it is not a car problem. Yes you can't warsh your MINI, but you can still drive it.

Oh, believe me, i'll be there. I just won't let Dave O see my car...or, maybe Dave will give a detailing workshop and use my car for a demostration...

Dave I'd like to swing by and say howdy as well. I think I saw "The Mistress" last year but I was more concerned with getting Bitsy's intake valves cleaned as I was making my way up to vendor row when I drove past. Can't wait for to get up there!

Had a 17% pulley installed with a 532 belt yesterday to add more lowend torque in my power curve.

The seal in my one month old water pump blew out last week....so the front of my mini is torn apart in the driveway....a couple of days of solid rain means no progress so far, looking for a few days of decent weather later this week so I can get things put back together before MOTD time. I HATE these types of issues so close to an event!
