:cornut: Now now, I checked with the Cosmology Dept. at Texas A & M University and they told me that there are cars on the Sun but they're only out at night time.

The Earth is always changing it the cycle of life at the grandest scale.
Sure we are getting warmer and then we get colder, if you don't believe me go find the nearest dinosaur and ask them where all their friends went.

FYI~ as far as I know we are still the only planet with Bacon, Donuts, Chocolate, Beer and MINI's.

While this is true, I really don't believe that we as a race have not affected the climate in some way. Is it doomed to change irreversibly, I have no idea but would hate to think that this generation did nothing and left it all to chance.

And about asking those pesky dino's, remember that asteroid that they saw coming and did nothing about it.....:D

That's only because they did not have Bruce William and Ben Affleck to fly into space with an oil drilling crew and blow up the asteroid.

Let's have science for the pursuit of discovery ... for truth ...and not for political agendas on either side.

It's a real shame that science has become politicized....or that scientists would bend to a political agenda ..or merely would work to maintain their funding.

No offense intended, but I doubt that anyone on here is qualified in climate science....we tend to listen to the "news" outlets that reflect our personal beliefs... (myself included) ...as biased as they may be.

Let's hope that we make the right choices for our children and grandchildren.

You hit the nail on the head. Science done to keep the money flowing. It doesn't matter if it's true or not.

They say lets make sure we leave the planet in a better shape for the next generation.

I say lets make sure we leave the next generation in better shape to care of our planet.

All that being said...fabricating results to maintain the flow of money....etc. It does seem to be a stretch that a large majority of scientists from so many competing countries ( 20+) would agree with some form of the global warming models if it weren't a reality. Russia, France, Germany and the US agreeing? On anything? And where do we all get the information to form our personal opinions? The media ... Which has an agenda ..not to provide the facts, but to make money selling advert time.

When previous generations figured out that the US air quality was bad and getting worse...they reluctantly took the long view, and made tough choices that would not show results within their lifetime. Air quality 50-60 years ago? In most cities...awful. And now? Not bad. I am hoping that we take the long view and not force the following generations to clean up our mess.

When Copernicus published his papers that proved the earth circled the sun, (and not the other way around) he was excommunicated because his theories contradicted the prevailing church dogma. The establishment hated him. Politicizing science has been around for a long time.

Yeah and Dogma was an excellent movie.

The fact is yes we are messing up the planet but until someone gets other countries like China, Japan and others to do something it's going to keep getting worse.

The end is near and by near I am talking a Million or 2 years.

If we wait for other countries make the first move then we are screwed. No one is saying that the "end" is near... But making the wrong choices... or delaying making the tough choices because they are just too difficult or that they cost too much "now" ...may cause a much heavier social / financial burden for future generations.

As for those other countries...let's stop sending them our jobs, money, and technology. That might put a dent in their carbon footprint.

My head is not in the sand but I am also preaching about global warming on a car forum for a car that does not get the even close to the MPG rating listed on the window.

If you really were so passionate about global warming you would trade your MINI in on a Prius.

The EARTH is always changing and MAN can't not control it NO MATTER how hard we try.

I'm trying real hard not to get sucked in to this. Because of my job I see this planet from a perspective most people rarely see. We are like flees on a dogs back, we may make him itch but we are not going to kill him. You can't even believe how big a thunder storm is till your next to one 7 miles above the earth and just one little roll of it makes you look like a speck. Last Time I flew to Brazil I spent 3 hours over jungle at 35000 ft thats all you could see. The only way to reach some on was to use the HF radios.
I'm not saying dump oil down the drain or let factories dump in the ocean. But I'm sick of being told that Hybrids and electric cars will save us. They won't.
    oops I got sucked in.:frown2:
