Welp.... Something is definitely up I tell you....

You know how some animals act funny just before an earthquake?

Course, it's been very quiet in the Short North with the Gnatster being on holiday up in Detroit...

There has been a huge squirrel migration out of the local area here... Large families of squirrels were seen leaving today... The streets look like shimmering grey fur moving out in all directions, but definitely away from the Short North... Some really big Flying squirrels were seen leaving this afternoon...

Something's about to transfigure the Short North for sure... Stay inside and cover your ears...:D

Super, I want to see a list of mods, we all know it is different this time around.

Great to see the Gnat back in the neighborhood, even in pictures.

Wish I lived closer to DT.

Nathan, we need a video clip, just mute the exhaust a little.

    :)

Looking forward to the t-shirt, I am IN if you do one! :)

Sorry this had to happen, but Gnat is a very nice MINI, so a little love never hurts.

Dont worry Nate the bill will only be about a couple thousand dollars or 3,000 M\A t-shirts or 10 years of free Detroit Tuned vendor sponsorship to Chad.

    We have pictures...

    Tear Down

Oh No, thats not good. O2 Sensor wiring pinched.

    Looks ok...so far

And what ya'll have been waiting for....the carnage

Could the O2 sensor wire being pinched give erroneous reading leading to a rich condition that was then leaned out too much not knowing the signal was not correct. There have been way too many hands in there, including my own, to point to the exact culprit.

There are some other issues Chad found as well. A motor mount that is not functioning properly. Lots of the incorrect clips and fasteners used by the body shop. There is some interesting wiring as well.

Now to let it all sink in and formulate a plan of action.

Are you surprised by the body shop not using the OE clips? Generics are a ton cheaper, and some of them kinda work... :(

Pretty sure all the clips I picked up from MOL totaled a couple hundred bucks, and most of them gad to be ordered from MINI... The insurance companies push the generics as much as they can, and if a good body shop doesn't have the right ones and has to wait days or weeks to get them, that costs them $$$. Honestly I am not shocked at all.

And yes... Gnat needs some Jesus in its life!

Do any of the other cylinders show a lean condition?
    Which cylinder is that?

Will you have those injectors tested and calibrated, I suspect that one. The O2 wire would probably have caused the all the rest to show a lean condition if that were the culprit.

I'd not thought of having the injectors cleaned, tested and calibrated. Chad and Nick are monitoring this thread, their thoughts on this would be beneficial.

I would have no idea where to have that service performed either. Google offers dozens of choices.
