    forgot to post these before.............
so after tearing the head apart we found out the reasons why it failed
Nathan had another shop in the past work on the head ..........and in their not so infinite wisdom ,put expoxy in the INTAKE ports. As you can see from the pics it was chunking out and into the combustion chambers. Some of the expoxy got stuck under the exhaust valve and caused it to burn the valve.

They had also shimmed the springs to where it was coil binding. Which explains why when I drove the car the car was soft on power.

All new springs now, new valves, new guides etc.........It's like a brand new head again. Can't wait for Nate to see the new found power.

there was no cracks in the head and the only welding was on the stud for the intake manifold so I am not sure what was done besides adding the epoxy and the crazy shimming of the springs. Oh well........it's good now:Thumbsup:

Jim, it was pretty much changed after some guy hit the car and another guy stomped it while it was parked outside [I guess the bars are close by]. :frown2: This all happened while you were off-site.

We have the MINI and three VWs, 88 16V Rocco, 90 GTI, and an 04 Jetta GLI. I always try to have at least three running so if one goes down we still have a car for both of us to get around.
