What all of you that are mentioning how long your MINI has been in the shop is that ya'll have other vehicles. My mistake has been listening to everyone. I've been talked out of getting a scooter. Been talked out of getting a cheap beater. So what do I get by listening to others advice... Sore feet.
Yeah, still working on that since the move. As to the Smart Car thing... Car2Go determined that the area they cover in Columbus was not utilized in a manner they see fit so they cut the home area and removed 1/3 of the fleet. Add to that you can't park one of them any where near anything at The Ohio State University Medical Center. Made that mistake once. Became a 90 some dollar visit to the doc, just for parking. I just want my farking car back!
A scooter or old beater is a great idea. You never know when you may need spare wheels! Of course there is always.................. [ame="http://youtu.be/2CTPLUcQAjk"]Queen - Bicycle Race - YouTube[/ame]
We have the MINI and three VWs, 88 16V Rocco, 90 GTI, and an 04 Jetta GLI. I always try to have at least three running so if one goes down we still have a car for both of us to get around.
Go this route.... Get all the exercise you could ever want... That and you'll be nimble on your feet... And no fuel cost... Oh... And no $90 parking tickets...
Well, Nathan has a valid point - how well would any of US get along if our only car was in the shop for five freaking months?!?!? What's the prognosis for getting Gnat back? Any day now or "we'll see"? Rose's Audi was down for two weeks due to waiting for parts and my lackadaisical attitude about getting down into the shop and fixing it, during that time she had my MINI and I drove Buzz as my DD.......we were both happier when we got our respective cars back, but I can't imagine living out here in the 'burbs with no wheels at all. Nathan's only saving grace is that he lives "urban", so many things are more available to him that he can walk to.....
All I can say is "Don't burn your bridges".... I'm pretty sure no one in Columbus would want to do that kind of major heart surgery on your MINI..... It's got too many custom STUFFs in it... It might be the kind of thing that goes with the territory, when you are living on the bleeding edge of modified MINIs being used as a daily driver... Take a deep breath and "forgetaboutit", it'll get done when it's done...
Ok now the double post is gone? My uncle use to say " it will feel good when it stops hearting" You have some master mechanics working on it. I'm sure when you get it it will have been worth the wait. Hang in there
Sooooo.... Was told car is done, it runs and everything. Get ride to Detroit with Goldsmithy. Text Chad when we are about 1/2 hr away to let him know we are on the way but a little late. Get reply that car won't start. Figure he's being funny. Yeah, not so much. Spend the day at Detroit Tuned while they try and figure it out. Get a ride back home from Goldsmithy. Great farking day. I'm just numb now.

Nathan I'm sorry things didn't turn out well yesterday. I know Chad & company will get this done & working right for you. Hang in there.
I am planning a trip up for a couple things at Detroit Tuned soon. I can give you a ride back up if you want.
I've got to say it was an interesting day. I know the frustration on both sides, i.e. having everything done, wrapped up and ready only to find that when you present it to the customer...something is wrong. I repair jewelry and have BTDT. It's no fun for either party. Sometimes the car God's just suck...
Happens in my work too. It's hard to convey to the customer that you're just as frustrated at having to re-do something you thought was done, was a time-suck and will be again. It's never the simple problems though, always something that's not routine. Sorry Nathan, I feel for you.
Like Crashton said Chad will get you fixed up. Hang in there. I know you are going through MINI withdraw. You'll get your fix soon.
Wow, that's what - 7 hours in the car to NOT get your car? Long day...... Once you get it will there still be some dyno tuning that needs to be done, or is it ready ready
