Looking forward to the t-shirt, I am IN if you do one! Sorry this had to happen, but Gnat is a very nice MINI, so a little love never hurts. Don
As Nate's heart gets better, Gnat's heart gets worse, a cruel, cruel irony. Gnat is turning into the Dorian Gray MINI. There is a T-shirt in this somewhere....
Dont worry Nate the bill will only be about a couple thousand dollars or 3,000 M\A t-shirts or 10 years of free Detroit Tuned vendor sponsorship to Chad.
I have to laugh, as I just took a call from my local Mini dealer that has taken good care of me. They wanted to give me a good discount for be a customer. I told her that I would die in my Mini. I had to clarify the comment when she became silent. I love my Mini and hope to have it until I die. I would rebuild Elson in a breath, if necessary. Good luck with the rebuild on Nat. You will enjoy it more.
We'll keep waiting for an update and our fingers will be eternally crossed hoping for good news buddy. And if you DO do T shirts, I'm in.
We have pictures... Tear Down Oh No, thats not good. O2 Sensor wiring pinched. Looks ok...so far And what ya'll have been waiting for....the carnage Could the O2 sensor wire being pinched give erroneous reading leading to a rich condition that was then leaned out too much not knowing the signal was not correct. There have been way too many hands in there, including my own, to point to the exact culprit. There are some other issues Chad found as well. A motor mount that is not functioning properly. Lots of the incorrect clips and fasteners used by the body shop. There is some interesting wiring as well. Now to let it all sink in and formulate a plan of action.
Are you surprised by the body shop not using the OE clips? Generics are a ton cheaper, and some of them kinda work...
Yes, the shop made a big tadoo about how they use OEM stuff. I guess I didn't get which "OEM Stuff" it was designed for clarified.
Is that valve seat area fixable, or do you need a new head? Jesus! you probably need a new head . . . call RMW.
Pretty sure all the clips I picked up from MOL totaled a couple hundred bucks, and most of them gad to be ordered from MINI... The insurance companies push the generics as much as they can, and if a good body shop doesn't have the right ones and has to wait days or weeks to get them, that costs them $$$. Honestly I am not shocked at all. And yes... Gnat needs some Jesus in its life!
Nate is Jewish, or used to be, so the Jesus head is out. To be politically correct, Jan would have to build him a Moses head.
The correct term is Jew-ish. The pause is important. A hand gesture is usually added when spoken, the accent on the "ish" Car has Jesus Head #2. Installed in 2007 by Danny at MINICorsa. Here is that head about to be installed, with timestamp. The ports had to be blacked out at the time as the design is proprietary.
Yeah the valve was badly broken, the valve seat was melted, and the head it self was melted, so there is actually a hole between the valve seat and the spark plug hole. Nate is now taking bids for this piece of history. The head will be cleaned and signed buy Nate and all mechanics that have touched it since 2007! Let this piece of art sit in your living room today!
Well Nate, be careful what you wish for, looks like this one came true!! Time for a Stage II Moses head.
Long live the Oxford Comma! The head will be cleaned, then signed by Nate... In the quote it appears I will be cleaning the head. Yeah, not likely. NSFW lyrics [ame="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P_i1xk07o4g"]Vampire Weekend - Oxford Comma - YouTube[/ame]
