^^^ Why do I get the idea that Beano is missing out on a great opportunity to co-brand a great product? Could be a good intro for a racin sponsorship. Just sayin....![]()

Minidave Well-Known MemberLifetime SupporterI always thought a windage tray was more of a flat piece of sheet metal that separated the crank from the oil, so the motion of the crank wouldn't cause the oil to froth and foam - also called a crank scraper.
Looks like this....
The item on the oil pump I think is called an antisurge cage - lets the oil into the sump area, won't let it out.
Here's one in the bottom of an oil pan, rather than mounted to the pump pick up tube....the hinged flaps allow the oil to flow to the pick up, but won't let it back out again under cornering forces.

actually stock compression............
we raised the piston to sit flush in the block for better quench area and dished the piston with a slight mound in it for better swirl..........
cuts down on detonation:devil: -
Redbeard JCW: because fast is fun!Supporting MemberI'm not anywhere near an engine builder in my knowledge but I'm always interested to learn more. Hence honest questions: What is the quench area? What do you mean by swirl and how does that effect detonation? Does that make the piston a hemi?

When are the t-shirts going on sale
-
Nathan's wallet's going to need a spa treatment when all's said and done... Lol
.....but well worth it!!!

I've been saving for this for a while. I knew it was just a matter of time. Also have to thank Jan for helping me out on some parts. That was very nice of him, he sure didn't have to.
Chad has been very easy to work with as well...
But, a few more Supporting Members wouldn't hurt... -

I'd buy one. Nathan would have to put a pic of his ride on it though. Cartoon or otherwise.

A tee graphic could be built around the mosquito splat image on your front air intake cowling... quite the apt metaphor... silver on blue... really fresh.
Bet you'd sell a bunch...
Cheers... M -
Mr. Jim MudsharkLifetime SupporterI was thinking more of the picture of the block with the splat image on one of the piston tops.
Ok, sorry Nathan for having some fun at your expense..... Back to your regularly scheduled thread.....

I'll start working on something...
BTW, that is a gnat, not a mosquito. A gnat is very similar to a mosquito but lacks the biting proboscis a mosquito has, so it doesn't suck your blood. Gnats also swarm in mass. They are quiet too, while you do hear the mosquito's buzz...
Hmm, I may have to rethink this MINI naming thing. -
agranger MINI of the Month June 2009Supporting MemberI was about to say that when I think of your MINI, 'quiet' isn't the word that comes to mind...
