Oil pick up with RMW thingie that prevents oil starvation during sustained high load cornering. BTW, much like the head, it is one of the first produced.
^^^ Why do I get the idea that Beano is missing out on a great opportunity to co-brand a great product? Could be a good intro for a racin sponsorship. Just sayin....
I always thought a windage tray was more of a flat piece of sheet metal that separated the crank from the oil, so the motion of the crank wouldn't cause the oil to froth and foam - also called a crank scraper. Looks like this.... The item on the oil pump I think is called an antisurge cage - lets the oil into the sump area, won't let it out. Here's one in the bottom of an oil pan, rather than mounted to the pump pick up tube....the hinged flaps allow the oil to flow to the pick up, but won't let it back out again under cornering forces.
actually stock compression............ we raised the piston to sit flush in the block for better quench area and dished the piston with a slight mound in it for better swirl.......... cuts down on detonation:devil:
I'm not anywhere near an engine builder in my knowledge but I'm always interested to learn more. Hence honest questions: What is the quench area? What do you mean by swirl and how does that effect detonation? Does that make the piston a hemi?
Nathan's wallet's going to need a spa treatment when all's said and done... Lol .....but well worth it!!!
I've been saving for this for a while. I knew it was just a matter of time. Also have to thank Jan for helping me out on some parts. That was very nice of him, he sure didn't have to. Chad has been very easy to work with as well... But, a few more Supporting Members wouldn't hurt...
Your motor is looking Real good Nathan, few RMW parts, a little Motor city know how from Chad and you will set for one FUN time at this years Dragon and many future ones.
Actually, this idea has some merit. I, for one, would give serious consideration to investing in a tee commemorating this historical event -- something particularly clever about the rebuild, tack on some DT, RMW, and MA logos, etc. and there you have it. Probably have to sell a bunch to make a difference, but who knows?
