Final leg. Should be in Austin in a little over two hours.



Half the plane is wearing Ferrari, COTA, F1 or some other Motorsport gear.

 

Indeed we have. Seems that at least some of the Vodafone team is staying in the same hotel as us.

The lobby is full of people trying to find non-existent available rooms because they don't want to drive the 70 miles every day.

 

Mail order, of course. Done for the day. The early morning 3 a.m. wake up has done me in. Another early day tomorrow, 6 AM. Want to make sure I get my money's worth and get there as early as we can. More to come tomorrow.

Got a few minutes so I figured I'd add some "experience" comment. The Austin venue is very nice. The people are friendly, the locals seem to have done a good job. Traffic was not too bad. Even getting out on the two lane highway it only took us half hour to get home. However, they are definitely not prepared for the crowds inside the track. While the beer and alcohol are plentiful, just about every vendor ran out of food by 12:30. At least on our side of the track by the grandstands. Not only bad for people, but I shutter to think how much money was left on the table due to poor planning. Also, some other stuff. We purchased Fast Access passes for the track so we would not have to stand in lines to get in. Nobody knew nothing about it and the general attitude was "we might get them working tomorrow". That was a wrong answer. The wife went all "business management" on their ass and the lane was set up and established in five minutes flat. The trams, which are supposed to get people from the parking lots to the gates, while promised, where hard to find. Volunteers (kudos to Bernie for figuring out a way not to pay people) knew very litte about anything. Asking about trams elicited a deer in the headlight stares. I don't mind walking the 2-3 miles (we do it every other morning at least), but it's just annoying. Well, off to watch all the support races, P3 and Quali.

Race day! Only took 40 minutes to get here and the place was packed already. They really have the traffic figured out. Ferrari challenge on right now.
