Final leg. Should be in Austin in a little over two hours. Half the plane is wearing Ferrari, COTA, F1 or some other Motorsport gear.
I can confirm Mr. and Mrs Jnky have made it to the rental car agency and will soon be headed towards Downtown Austin. Btw, you know F1 is in town because we had conversations with random people about teams/drivers.
Indeed we have. Seems that at least some of the Vodafone team is staying in the same hotel as us. Pretty good view from our room. The state Capitol building: The lobby is full of people trying to find non-existent available rooms because they don't want to drive the 70 miles every day.
:biggrin5: Jerry, better make sure you don't accidentally cross the border, cause with that mug they my not let you back in! Have a great time my friend!
Mail order, of course. Done for the day. The early morning 3 a.m. wake up has done me in. Another early day tomorrow, 6 AM. Want to make sure I get my money's worth and get there as early as we can. More to come tomorrow.
With Jerry's permission I'm dropping in a small thread-jack. My wife has been given the honor of working in Race Control this weekend. She will be the one monitoring track communications and posting official messages from race control. In layman's terms when you see the message on TV like, "Investigation of incedent between cars 4 and 17 underway," or "DRS has been activated" etc... That will be my wife. She will be sitting just infront of Emerson Fittipaldi and the other race stewards. Here are a few pics she snapped in her VERY limited down time today. Ferrari's principal picking his nose... My Wife in race control Race Control Wife Proving she is really there... Red Bull Garages Random Pics of the track and events Back to your GoalJnky thread!
Redbeard, thanks for those pics. It's awesome that you and the Mrs has such incredible access. Thanks for sharing and showing us areas we would never see.
Thanks, Brian. What I and my wife got with the pictures are some of the behind the scene stories that go along with the pics. Truly fascinating and something most fans never think about when watching the circus. Anyway, day one of the race weekend. Another early start:
Not too bad. Only took 20 Minutes to get to the track. The place is already filling up with people with flags and whatnot.
You got to drive that new Spanish owned tool road with the 85mph speed limit? Something makes me think that the traffic will pick up more and more every day. I'd not rely on that 20 min figure again this weekend. Thanks for the pics, hopefully we'll see a lot more from you and T.
Watching the live on-board stream on SPEED right now...some stands look pretty sparse, is everyone stuck in traffic?
