My skin is thick enough Dave. It is indeed the internet, as you pointed out, so the option is mine to stay or leave. I came here from NAM and can always move again. The one thing that is really cool about the F-56 is that I can be certain that you will never show up on one of their forums.

Opinions matter, but not to BMW/Mini. This new model will stop a lot of people from buying Minis which is sad but the truth. I won't be buying one! I mean heck I already have one of the most hated and bashed Minis that there is so who cares. ....... This Mini will be my last one and then I will leave the Mini community behind also.

Aw shucks, I was about to ask when you were going to turn your son loose with the MINI so he could see how beautifully it rotates around corners.

My son wanted to drive his Mustang. So I let hem. I was looking down when he turned left. I looked up to see a truck about to his us from the left and a car comming from the right. I said something I really don't remember now. Next I was treated to a demo of how a 5.0 Mustang with mods can rotate! :yikes: I told my son, when my hart started beating agine, I'm old and don't need the thrill!

    No it was an S

But I should say thanks to Matt for getting the manager to let me drive it. They didn't want it on the road till next weekend when their having some rollout party.

When are you going to trade yours in on the new one? I know it won't take you long to get it looking sharp.

Compared to the "classic" the R-53 is NOT a MINI, not even close in fact, but it was the new MINI. The R-56 was the next MINI. The F-56 is the current MINI and the F-what ever will be the next MINI.

There are sites that lean toward only the classics and now it looks like there will be a site for the "Rover" folks and another for the "F" folks. Sad, but that looks like the way it is going to play out, because Dave, MCS02, ZippyNH and others, just have to have a place where they can put down anything that is not an R-53. They can't help themselves. Sure, they say they welcome "all" mini owners, but not their car. As the F-56 starts to show up in larger numbers, I doubt it will be here. :frown2:

I saw a bunch or stuff in MrChilipepperTubo's rant that I did not understand. A lot of makes me wonder why the F56 felt so different to him than the one I drove. Could this be one of those opinion things? I've already posted my thoughts on my drive so I won't rehash here.

Like I said the way things are going folks are moving away or coming here once & going what the shirt & leaving for other places. Yes I know this is the interwebs, but just because it is do we have to make fun of folks & their choices in cars or mods? Is there interweb law that makes us bad people if we try to care for other's & their feelings?

End of old fart ramble 2.....

Yup^^^^ the F56 will be the best and greatest MINI of them all. It's such a great looking car with so much potential because the same motor in the BMW 2 series puts out 255 hp. All the tech built in and the great ride comfort everybody should trade up and buy one.

Pretty sure he had his tongue firmly planted in cheek when he typed that one.

Never going to be a looker, but given enough time Jan will make it a runner for sure.

If Jan could just make it fast enough to push the nose back where it should be, and the tail lights fall off, it would be great.

Usually, manufacturers actually improve their cars. Look at the VW GTI from MkVI to MkVII. It's night and day. Everything about the new GTI is better than the last one. It's cheaper, much faster, HAS AN LSD OPTION, has adjustable dampers that make the ride go from buttery smooth to MINI "sport suspension" firm, and it's bigger yet lighter. What has BMW been doing recently that has been a huge improvement from generation to generation? The E90 335i was the best all around sports sedan ever. The F30 is like a Camry with a turbocharged inline-6 and RWD.

Was your test unit part of the oil filter housing+gasket recall?
