    More Fisker Fun Follies...

A $100,000-plus Fisker Automotive luxury car died during Consumer Reports speed testing for reasons that are still unknown, leaving the struggling electric car startup with another blow to its image.

"It is a little disconcerting that you pay that amount of money for a car and it lasts basically 180 miles before going wrong," David Champion, senior director for the magazine's automotive test center, told Reuters.

Fisker has benefited from the publicity generated when actor Leonardo DiCaprio was handed the first Karma last summer and pop idol Justin Bieber received one as a gift this month.

The breakdown of the Consumer Reports car is more bad news for a company that already recalled some Karmas. Fisker also has changed its CEO and halted production over the past month as it seeks to renegotiate the terms of a $529 million loan from the U.S. Department of Energy.

Champion said since the magazine buys the cars it tests anonymously the company may not know.

In a statement, Fisker said it was assessing the source of the problem that caused its Karma plug-in hybrid to fail. Fisker dispatched two engineers Wednesday night to examine the car.

"It's important to note that with more than 400 Fisker Karma sedans already on the road in the U.S., we also have many satisfied customers who are enjoying daily commutes in their cars," Fisker said in the statement.

Does that include the $8,000.00 per car tax break for the purchaser?

Nope... But it is cancelled out because it is not a tax break for those of us who think the government should stay the hell out of the car business...

    .....or any business.

Wonder if the big wigs at Fisker will give back their fat salaries if the company fails...or do you think they'll all get a nice bonus like the folks at Solyndra got?

:cornut: Any time that one form of energy is converted to another form, there is a 10% loss. I don't think that The Gov can run an extension cord to the Sun any time soon(although we're already paying enough taxes for them to have done it several times over) .

"A slow uncomfortable screw up against the wall."

So, I see the Fister, er-ah Fisker, made the O'Reilly Factor tonite. Kinda funny to see that it cost fossil fuel dollars to cart away that electric P-O-S. Nice look'n car, but what a hunk out'a all our pocket books.

There, I'm done ranting. I'm gonna go fire up my Duramax and go get me some pizza and beer. :beer

I had been enjoying this forum until all these low road remarks started flying. Please keep politics out of the Mini forum.

minimark is correct sir...."Politics and other messy stuff". I'm sorry you feel this way. But also, are you saying my post was "low road"?

    H. CON. RES. 107, is a REAL scenario going on in Congress right now, this is not some kind of, "check it out on Snopes first" thing, it's real.

You're right. I hadnt paid attention to the category, so I will avoid the "politics and messy stuff" category, and I didn't know I had the option to block topics. I will check that out. So, all you little men can by all means burn off some testosterone through reciting all the fair and balanced, no spin tag lines you wish to spew. Go for it. I'll look just a few more times for the amusing slings and arrows you throw my way ... then block it when the jism dries. And, yes, extremely low road, not to mention dead wrong.
