Would a government run healthcare system want or need the DNA information?

    ding ding ding ding. winner.

After all the talk about how we're going to save money with more preventive care... then someone bothers to actually analyze it and find that it costs MORE to provide preventive care to everyone than just to treat those who actually get sick. (this already happened - it's not hypothetical).

So..... if you want to provide preventive care only to those who need it.... to "save money"... and "save lives"... in the interest of the "common good"... what information might help you do that????

    Hmmmm....

On a related note... we don't need prostate screenings and mammograms anymore. Just puts people through needless pain and suffering who get diagnosed and treated but may have never really died from cancer anyway. But a panel of doctors decided this, so it must be best for us. And cost was NO consideration. So they say. Nor was rationing. Nor was it a preemptive strike to reduce demand before we flood the system with millions of new patients with the same number of doctors... Oh yeah... and no oncologists were on the panel. Because we know they just want to give you unneeded chemo, or cut your foot off, or something.
