Warmer temperatures have finally arrived, although whether they're here to stay for good is still yet to be determined. Even though the roads are still in sorry shape, I decided it was time to throw on the summer shoes before my winter treads melted into a puddle of rubbery goo. Timing couldn't be better, the first autocross event is next weekend, and MOTD is at the end of the month! Time for the photo overload:
Yoko Advan AD08Rs. Came on the car, so I'm running them until they're bald, then I'll weigh my options. Not quite the best autocross tire (don't heat up fast enough), but they're a great summer tire for daily driving and competition use.
Very tasteful and clean, good choices all around! Nice pictures, did you use lights or just the available lighting in the area?
Thanks! I was walking around the car admiring it today... I'm definitely happy with my choice. Thanks! No lights, just ambient - I've gotten pretty good over the years at using available light when photographing cars.
I'm glad I went with the anthracite - I was previously considering High Power Silver but this was the only finish available without doing a custom order. I'm very satisfied!
Cross-posted from the Helix Motorsports Intercooler Datalogging Results thread. So many round headlights in the Helix shop. Up in the air she goes! Whales makes a surprise appearance at Helix. This is becoming a tradition, it seems. Data collection. Let’s compare. Helix on the left, stock on the right… and something else in the middle. Fin density and core innards of ‘Brand X’ And the Helix Intercooler. And just for giggles, here’s what a stock intercooler looks like inside. It wouldn’t be a visit to Helix without a cheesesteak. Thanks, Whales! Stock intercooler in place. Helix, installed. Impressions? The numbers certainly don't lie, but my finely-tuned butt dyno doesn't either. Usually, at least. It was a pretty steamy day in the Philadelphia area on Thursday - and I ran the car hard on the way home from the shop. Pull after pull, the car felt as strong as it did on the first as it did the last - no apparent signs of heatsoak could be felt, and the car definitely felt stronger in the upper RPM range. It was a nice change from the wave of hot weather we had a week or two ago - the GP heatsoaked quickly with such a small factory intercooler.
Hay that 911 looks like a old friend of mine car! He went in to a laundry mat a long time ago and left it running. Some punk kid stole it.
