Hey Bob, lots of options, but I just last week got a CravenSpeed "pro series" mount, and really like it. I think the price ($84) is beyond ridiculous for what is at the end of the day a tiny little piece of machined, painted aluminum, a 12v socket (that lets you completely conceal the wiring), and a few pieces of hardware (screws and spacers). But that being said, it's elegantly done and ideal IMHO. (It screws to the back of the tach, without hole-drilling—uses the factory holes.)
Photos of the installation:
Over-priced or not, I'd make the same decision again.

I built my own, very similar to the one shown, only I arced mine to the left, so it's out of the view out the front. Works perfectly....and it's easy to reach to enter data or whatever.
I'm pretty sure there are some pics of mine on this site already if you do a search.....
found em...

$5 item on eBay... A strip of double sided tape, 5min with heat gun (to "curve" the bottom) and that is it...
Vote PEPPERNSALT for this month's MINI OF THE MONTH... Thanks.-

I mounted mine to the lower left corner of the windshield, with the supplied suction cup mount, it looks much like Minidave's installation, from the front view.

I have to admit I copied the Craven Speed idea somewhat, but then modified it as they only had one leg supporting the Garmin, and I thought it needed two to keep it from vibrating and bouncing.
I used to use the suction cup, but in hot weather I'd usually find my Garmin laying down on the floor or hanging by the cord, and I got tired of dealing with it. But I wanted something that I could remove again if I sold the car that wouldn't leave any marks, that's why I don't like the Kuda mount or the double sided tape solutions.
I like the Craven Speed mounts a lot - spendy, but they work. I just decided I could make my own, so I did. Mine's just cut out of some scrap 1/4" aluminum strap I had, and then I welded the extra leg onto it. It's been on there for several years now and still works a treat. One of the things I like about the Craven Speed mounts is their adjustability, that way you can position it so you can easily see all of the unit, none of it's hidden behind the wheel, and of course you can take it off if you sell the car -

My only criticism of the Craven Speed GPS mount is its tendency to vibrate. As I said in another posting on MA, if I ignore trying to be a perfectionist, I can live with the vibes.

Couple of screws at the base, IIRC.....depending on the year, but yes, it's a doddle....
