Wow Mark, that sucks for us & Mid-Ohio. How can a track stay in business if they lose big events? Sad stuff.

I can't find anything on 2014 tracks. But if they're not at Mid-Ohio this will be the last year for a VIP ticket. I'll just go to Vintage and Indy with a general admission.
This really sucks. -

They haven't announced 2014 venues yet. Don't expect anything other than speculation any time soon either, apparently they "would like to finalize and release by or before the ALMS Oct. 19 Petit Le Mans season finale."

Steve, if I remember correctly when the merger was announced they also listed the tracks that would get the combined new series and a point was made that Mid-Ohio was cut. The comment made in the article that although they felt that MO was a good venue they just didn't have room for it. I'll try to find the article.

Maybe you're thinking of the 2013 ALMS schedule posted here? See also your understandable response in the next post. :biggrin5:
I've seen a lot of 2014 venues lists but I think they've all been either suggestions or speculation. I could be wrong though...I'm due... -

Probably the same reason that PIR doesn't run the big races........too much money to upgrade the facilities for them.
-
VIR lost Grand Am last year but we got ALMS and ALMS is on the schedule this year.... Will we be left our entirely in 2014?
Will miss the name Grand Am but "United SportsCar" sounds pretty good, now will the racing be as good? I think better if they keep the amount of classes limited!! -
Scott, not the case with Mid-Ohio. This facility is constantly being upgraded and hosts Indy Car and this year, a Nationwide race. It has had all the premier race series run here over the years including Can-Am, Trans-Am, IMSA Camel GT, Grand Am, ALMS, NASA Championships and the SCCA Valvoline Run-Offs. And that's just on the car side of the ledger. On the motorcycle side the premier events continue to be a part of the schedule. I don't know what they are thinking but as I stated before, please bring over the Austrailian V8 Supercars and I'll be there.

Here's one Mid-Ohio gain. Maybe this means Mid-Ohio is still on the short list for USCR?

Why is Lime Rock on the list. Its basically an oval with one right hand turn and only 1.9 miles around. Compared to VIR or Mid-Ohio.

Lime Rock is real close to the crowds and TV audience.....I never liked the racing there either.

Looks like it could be entertaining.

Here's another surprising (to me) development. Due to the impending merger, and I assume at least partly because of the deletion of the ALMS P1 class, Audi is seriously thinking about running their own DP car in USCR in 2014. Not so simple though...
