For those wondering about the advantages of these Green Performance caster/camber plates, I thought some might be interested in comments I received from Colin during a recent email exchange we had when I asked about the function of these plates...below are some excerpts. Once one understands exactly what these plates do and the advantages they offer to car set up, the buying decision becomes a no-brainer. The potential for reduced tire wear alone makes them quite useful... Comments from Colin: "...with additional caster put into the front end you have much less need for static camber that wears tyres. Also adding front caster will help the front end feel more stable on the highway as well as add a bit of steering weight to the front end. The entire reason i started building these was I drove a mini with added caster and had to have them...." "...It is a bit of a take on the JRZ design for the plate but we significantly changed a bunch of factors on them to make them actually function well for a mini. Some of the design work JRZ had was a bit incomplete...." "...As far as making sure the front end is dead accurate, with these plates they will be "infinitely" adjustable, meaning no pre set slots...So in a nut shell whats good about that?...Inherently since metal moves around with heat when the car is stamped and welded together it makes the car slightly twisted from one side to the other, with these plates and a bit of time you can make it completely perfect..." "...The other thing thats nice is that with less need for such aggressive camber angles you don't have to really worry about tyre wear as much..."
Even though these don't fit my Coupe, I want to see this move forward so that the Gen 2 design will make sense for Colin to design. When/If that happens I'm all over them. C'mon R53 guys....order up!!!!!
Ill have stuff that fits your coupe if you want on the group buy. Its not a problem. Ill work something out with the machinist to get the parts done. only the top plate will need to be changed for the part to work.
is it not the same bolt pattern on the top? I have limited experience with them. I have only driven one once, it was dales, greg zito was in the back and i thought he was going to have a coronary if i drove it over 25 miles an hour.
Do a reverse lookup on Real OEM... See here... All of these use the same OEM Top Strut Bearing.... RealOEM.com - Part Search The flood gates have now been opened...
CHKMINI, If thats the case go order up on my website! Greene Performance Caster/Camber Plate Group buy
Come on - if you don't have camber plates already and you consider yourself an 'enthusiast' or 'hardcore' -GET A SET!!!
If more speed is what you want, the smart thing is to keep what you already have by not giving it up in the corners. These plates will help you do that.
If I had these plates already, my car probably wouldn't look like this. Be smart! Don't be a statistic! Expand your limits! Ante in for these plates!!!
I'd be in if I didn't have other projects/things to fix already and wasn't a poor ex-college student struggling through life. Ha!
