Jim, Where in PA. are you ? I'm about 60 mi. sse of Erie, around Warren, PA. With my splitter adjusted slightly down from level I don't notice any mpg loss on the open roads. With it down a little more for the twisty country roads I drive harder so of course I lose mpg :eek6: Mark Group4
Thought you weren't going to give it up there. I had an uncle that lived around Gettsyburg, had a big rabbit ranch Mark Group4
Since a hatch is a hatch, would the R53 wing fit on an R56? Like Nathan, I like the looks of it better. Jim
Thanks, that would figure. :cryin: In Nathan's pictures it looked like they might have been attaching the uprights directly to the existing spoiler, but I coud be wrong. Jim
A hatch is not a hatch in this case. On the R56 the spoiler is a part of the hatch that if was not there you would see inside the hatch. R56 Hatch diagram R50/53 Hatch Diagram Note that on the R56 diagram item #15 is a compete exterior panel that covers the opening. While on the R50/53 diagram the item #27 attaches to the exterior panel. They are not at all interchangeable.
Thanks Nathan. You were the test bed, so do you know if the two uprights could be attached to the R56 and then the wing added (it looked to be three seperate parts) or are they planning to make it an entire unit that bolts on? Jim
I am working on a GP style wing to fit the R56. The look is very similar to the R53 GP style wing seen on Nathans' car. Maybe in a week or so I can get some photos posted. Actually the R56 diagram is for a Justa Cooper hatch. The "S" model wing is two pieces. I am designing the GP wing to incorporate the use of the lower section to mount the R56 GP style wing to the hatch. Joel
Joel, I forgot to mention that I have a "justa", which seems to be the "forgotten generation" in the wounderful world of moding. The MCS is a fine car, but MC's are people too. Jim
The wing extension that Joel offers on the MC adds a nicer, racier look and also helps keep the rear window clean. I put one on my MC at last year's Dragon, and like it so much I put one on my MCS this year, along with his vortex diffuser under the wing.
Joel has the wing extensions and wing diffusers now. As for the other G4 stuff, I guess we'll have to wait for all the testing to get done, as well as the eventual pricing. PLEASE stay tuned...it's great stuff!
If you haven't had a chance, give them a call. It's worth it--it's like talking to Jeff at TSW--they're genuinely excited about what they're doing, and love passing on information (I learned a ton about what all this stuff does, how it works together, angles, etc) . They're working on a bunch of stuff, including the removable splitter, an straight pipe exhaust that will work with the rear diffuser without any modification to the battery box (which is number one on my list, once that's sorted out, the other stuff will follow), etc, etc.
The wing extension is in a picture here by Vader. I don't believe Joel has a difusser for the wing, WMWNY is thinking of the vortex generator on the bottom of the wing. Joel has a picture of the rear wing that incorporates the vortex generator molded in it.
