No offense taken orangecrush, in fact your feedback met with others and that design has been dumped. All ideas do not turn out, that's why we keep trying, testing and redesigning. Mark Group4
Mark (Putterfarm) is right. We have multiple designs that we are trying for rear downforce given that the stock wings including the stock GP wing "hide" from the airstream and do little. We have revealed some of our prototypes to get feedback and we have received some. You will see everything come together once we have tested the different ideas we have come up with. An amalgamation if you will. We are being as open as we can on this forum because we want constructive input, and for the most part we have received that. Aside from the occasional comments from behind a computer keyboard, we are enjoying this freedom to show what we are doing. As others have said, it's function first, then we'll work on the looks. Right now it's getting the angles right. Some of what you have seen are pure test beds and were disclosed as such. Other designs were close to production but feedback led us to refine or even redraw the design. Track testing is going to be the key element in what makes production status.
I for one am impressed with what you all are doing and the way you are going about it. Please don't forget that us "justa" folks are out here too, so please make what ever you come up with fit both of the R56's. Jim
BTW, I've been thinking that "The Dragon Debrief" thread should head into the next phase of what we are doing and become something else. On the other hand, we don't want to leave anyone behind. I've thought about "Group4Autosport Updates" as a thread and we could leave a link on the old thread. What do y'all think? I just think that Dragon 2010 is in our past and we are debriefed already.
I'm glad you all took my comment as an opinion, nothing more, nothing less. Though I track the car all the time, I want it more for looks than function. I can't say my lap times are any better with a wing, with the stock wing, my wing or any other... Now, perhaps on a circle track super speedway like Daytona... absolutely. But for going to Mid Ohio, VIR or Roebling Road, the 30 seconds I'm on a straightaway running 125'ish mph isn't going to make a difference to me whether I have a wing (functional or not). I think a better set of tires will improve my times more so than any "wing". I made mine on my car for looks only... if it helps, great, if it hurts... ahhh, I don't care, I'm not breaking any landspeed records. Mark
jbewley, don't worry, we will not forget the "justacooper" family . Everything we design are for ALL MINIs . Mark Group4 p.s.: that's a real nice looking wing you built orangecrush. I like the simplicity of it
We've moved the discussion to our new thread, welcome to the Group4Autosport Progress Thread... http://www.motoringalliance.com/forums/exterior/3336-group4autosport-progress-thread.html#post30453
