Got the one I wanted:D. Have to put it together, but just the cart part, looks like drawer cabinet is together.

Yippee, I have something to share...

Okay, I have one of the Harbor Freight boxes that I bought a couple years back at the same discount price. It is a pretty decent box, I am very happy with it and YES I got the "mod" bug. :D

I grew up using tool boards and fixed work areas, but my garage has just enough space that the project du jour may be too far away from a fixed tool/work area for my sanity. To solve this I added the tool board to the cabinet; not an original idea, but I am happy with my efforts.

Hopefully I have attached pictures correctly.

    Thanks for letting me share!

Niice! Does it make it top heavy at all?

Most of the time you're only using about 20% of your tool box, so having those tools laid out in an easy to find order makes a lot of sense....it also makes it very easy to tell when you've left a tool lying around, cause you'll have an open spot on the board!

I especially like the light over the top of the work surface, that's a great idea!

What's in the basket in the top left corner?
And why the mirror? So you can admire how awesome you are as you work? :D

    Hi and thanks!
Not top heavy at all. The cabinet has a lot of steel in it, both in construction and contents.

You are exactly right, most jobs/work require very few of one's tools, so having them on the board just makes things easy and fast. The top (full width drawer) is where all my sockets etc. are located. So between the size of that drawer and the work surface, I can have all my "job" tools quickly at hand.

I have some heavy and obscure tools that I keep in a few file cabinets; these are tools that I maybe use once a year or even less. Why store and push those things around.

The light I have had since I was 12 (I am 44 now) and was getting ready to toss it along with the 50's rod-ish hubcap. Next thing I knew they were sitting together in a arty-car theme light that I needed anyway. Felt good using something that I had in my youth instead of just tossing and buying new (junk).

The basket is from the hardware store for kitchen food prep. When I am self disciplined enough, my always needed and often missing leather work gloves are stored in it. Hearing protection also these days. Hopefully as a reminder to myself that I need to protect my middle age hearing.

Well of course I am vain and have even enlarged the doorways for my big head, hence the mirror! :cornut: Not so much...I have three daughters, 7, 8 and 10, and they are always sneaking into the garage getting into stuff, mainly my way (LOL), so the mirror is just so I can keep an eye on them and thus support the parental myth of parents having eyes in the back of their heads and seeing all.

cct1: Yea, it is a nice head; I really should get it on the car instead of on the bench.

agranger: Thanks! I tried to be subtle...I wonder if "over there" will send me to my room.
