Fixed! Seems the latch somehow got out of sync. Played with the release button, door lock switch, and now it works.
It was bugging me, cold or no cold.

Maybe some white lithium lube would help keep it in sync during these cooler days.

Yeah, I need to do that. It does get out of sync every now and then. I think I don't push and hold the release button on the hatch long enough, and it does not cycle completely.

I had to replace my trunk latch last year. It had been buzzing upon opening for a while, then finally wouldn't close at all. It was bungee corded down for a few days before I got the part.

It was, pull some plastic from the boot, disconnect power(plug from latch), un-bolt latch, bolt in new latch, reconnect power(plug into latch), put plastic back in boot.

I found that if you twist the rubber bumps on the hatch itself you can raise or lower them. I was having issues with closing. After I twisted them "in" a few turns, problem was gone. As for opening... havn't had any issues.
