Great contribution Dave, very impressive comeback. Very astute and mature. You support your argument with a grade school insult. What were you saying about "just stir the pot"? Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk
Dude or chick I really don't care who you are, you are not worth my time. Hide behind your stupid "_ID" name and offer nothing.
any change in from the double cat OEM header is louder, even if you just remove the precat and run the stock header like I do it is louder. I tried a long tube 4:1 header with no cat on my race car, it was 100db just testing the sound I took it off, just too loud for me to only gain a couple HP over the stock header with no precat
Do you have a R53? I don't remember my 02 having a pre cat. If it did its gone now. I have headers running into the stock cat then in to a WMW Stratmosphere exhaust with a resonator. The sound is nice and does not drone.
This is a OEM 2006 stock exhaust pipe. It does NOT have 2 CAT's. It has two O2 sensors, on pre CAT and 1 post CAT.
What I offered is simply the correct information that replacing your stock header with an aftermarket header (unless it's just a knockoff of the factory part) or replacing your head with a bvh WILL make your car louder. That's not really a disputable statement, you just keep doing it anyways. Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk
Please tell me if I am correct. The benefit (besides sound) of adding any exhaust to a 2005 R series MINI that is basically stock with a 15% pulley and a CAI is very slight. The stock exhaust will flow great enough to adapt to these slight mods. It seems to me like most exhausts are installed for the sound w/o a performance increase. In planning the mods for my R52 S, I was told by people whose opinion I respect, that I wouldn't see the benefit of an exhaust until I installed a cam or a modified head. Has anyone tested the effect of a header system on a stock engine on a dyno?
Correct information???? Please provide your source. It is my understanding that a header doesn't make the noise..it's the muffler system that determines the the noise.
Are we talking 'practically' or 'theoretically' ? Anyone ever tested this 'sound' theory on a dyno with a decible meter?
Source is Colin, Jan, eleventy hundred threads on Jan's forum, and my own car. Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk
So, all your sources are 'hearsay'. I was hoping for something more scientifically provable. I greatly respect Colin and Jan's,opinion and I'm sure it is correct, but, in actuality, they are not scientifically proven as far as I can find. Do you have any testing besides your "butt' dyno opinion?
Oh for God's sake. Its not heresay. I have my own experience as evidence. I put the parts on my car. It became louder. I'm not offering a specific dB value so you can't attack that. You want me to do scientific research to prove that having your head up Dave's ass makes it smell bad too? Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk
Why do you degenerate every response that asks questions that do not agree with your opinions? Sorry, but I don't play those games. Please take your assholic self elsewhere.
Re-read the thread. Take a chill. Sheesh. It's not "opinion", it's observation in my own case, and concurring statements by people who know. Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk
Goldsmithy......give it a rest. Any change to the exhaust system making it flow better or more volume is going to change the sound. And it is going to get louder. Putting an aftermarket exhaust system allows better flow and volume and increases the sound level.Same is true for a header. As to the benefits of an after market header, slight unless combined with other mods.
