1st Gen R53 Cooper S Header question - primary o2 bung

    Why is it that on some header designs for the Mini, that the primary o2 sensor location is extended out a bit? I notice this on the OEM manifold as well but not on every header. What is the reason for pulling the primary so far out of the stream? Is there a gain to be had for this?
