You thought this was a dead thread, well here it is again! Sorry, I didn't think mine was worthy of a whole new thread since I didn't take that many pictures. Just replaced my falling down headliner with new black suede. I agree with Skid, I would pay someone to do it if I had to again.

I used suede and couldn't get it to lay flat, there goes my future in upholstery refinishing... Looks way better than having a bunch of fabric hanging down though.

Why, why did you do this, now I have to remedy those stains in the headliner from me leaving the sun roof open and it rained in my MINI.

My 02's headliner started sagging horribly over the driver's side and separated at the windshield. I ordered a replacement GP headliner and it was cheaper than ordering the grey one that came with the car.. LOL

Hope to put it in this weekend.

I did mine myself, used the grey headliner material from JoAnns. I would pay someone to do it again, I used the 3M 8080 adhesive (I think) - did it in halves, but it set up fast, so fast I couldn't adjust it at all - so it is over-stretched in some places, making a bubble and didn't get covered in others. It was so tacky it was pulling the fiberglass off the cardboard when I tried to move it. I'm not happy with it at all, but it isn't flapping in the wind at least.

Sorry... I don't think it's a national chain... just a guy doing his own thing. FYI: the headliner is holding up beautifully after 1 year.

The new pics w/ the grey to black headliner switch looks great. nice work!

Thanks, guys. My friend saw it last weekend & asked me to have his done....couldn't say no. Hence, we did it today. Exact same look, so no pix needed.
1 thing I realized was that his 03 headliner had more styro reinforcements behind than my 02. That was some invisible improvement MINI did.

Haha, Norm, it's not that difficult, even less when you've done it twice in a couple weeks' span. It only takes half to a day to take it down, clean, stick & reassemble. Say goodbye to all those stains, sags & detailing!

What kind of fabric did you use? It looks great and I want to replace my headliner.
