You should have asked him if he wanted to chase your MINI around the parking lot with his siren blasting and the lights flashing...

You know... Just for "Mall Cop" pursuit practice...:D

Chuck that thing looks so good it is a shame it will be hiding behind the bumper. Better to mount that on top of your hood. My VW beetle rally car wore it's oil cooler on the hood & boy did it look bad arse.

Won't a ceramic coating keep the heat in?

The coating actually helps radiate heat at lower speeds, and doesn't hinder anything at higher speeds.

At least according to these guys. There is some disagreement though.

SO. Was talking with my uncle about turbo engines, since this is my first. We got onto the subject of intercoolers. He is a die hard VW fan/owner. Loves them. He said to avoid an aftermarket intercooler because it'll throw codes and i'll have issues with pressure drop and air flow issues in regard to the amount of air changing... Is there any truth to what he says or is he just being ignorant?

No. And yes, but I would say ill informed rather than ignorant.

Like any aftermarket parts some are good some not. It depended on who it making them.

    Helix makes very good parts.
