Helix Minisports will be back at the Dragon this year, with some cool new installation specials for both 1st generation and 2nd generation MINIs. We are currently taking appointments for installations of all kinds from something as small as a Helix stubby antenna, to a replacement clutch (we've always sort of wanted that challenge).

This year we will be featuring a few unique specials. For the R50 and R53s (2002-2006 MINIs), we are offering Powerflex polyurithane control arm bushings installed for $350 total. If you own a 1st generation MINI, have more than 50,000 miles on it, and haven't replaced your bushings, unfortunately, you'll need to. You may have noticed that your MINI's handling is sloppier than it used to be, and that your inner tires have worn out. That's because your control arm bushings have failed. You could replace them with factory bushings, but then you'd just have to replace them in 40 to 50k miles. That's where Powerflex bushings come into play. They last the life of the car and make your handling razor sharp. Lend us a little time with your MINI and we'll make it the best Dragon experience of your life!

For the R56 and later cars (2007 and on), we're offering two unique services. First, Vehicle Coding. We are able to switch on a number of special commands within your vehicle's computer to activate conveniences that you may not have gotten with your MINI. Everything from automatically rolling up your windows with your keyfob, to controlling the torque steer under hard acceleration. How about one-touch sunroof open and close? Here's a partial list of what we can do:

    · Remote closing windows-closing with fob
    · Auto Door Unlock- Unlocks all doors when you remove key (regular) or when the engine shuts off
    · Selective Unlocking with Remote- unlock all doors, just the drivers door.
    · Power Windows after Ignition Deactivation- Enables power windows for one minute after ignition is turned off
    · Efficient Dynamics- shift indicator suggestions enable when cruising
    · Always Show Digital Speed- Keep Digital speed in tach
    · Disable speed overestimation- Drops the speed read out 2-7 mph
    · Key Gong Reminder -door open- disable
    · Road Freeze Temperature Warning- disable
    · Opening Doors Will Not Interrupt Window Roll Up
    · Double-Blink Hazard Lights/ Euro blinker
    · Fogs and High Beams On Simultaneously / or when flashing
    · Disable A/C Engagement When Pressing the Auto Button
    · Disable NAV System Warning
    · Sunroof Auto Open/Close- From tilt full open with one touch and close as well
    · Heart beat tach- Activates the alarm bar on top of the tack to “pulse on and offâ€
    · Disable Seat Belt Chime- both driver and passenger
    · Change Standard (standard) Radio Filter Settings- takeout low end filter for rear speakers. CAUTION!!!!!! MAY BLOW OUT REAR SPEAKERS
    · Disable Bulb checks- Void warnings for after market lighting
    · Enable one-touch windows on R56 models (driver/passenger)
    · Remove Legal disclaimer from Connected or Nav
    · Interior lighting cycle speed
    · Rain sensor closes sunroof
    · Fogs come on with lights – (disables toggle switch)
    · Torque steer fix!!!- (still in testing)

We will be running a special for coding: $20 per code or as many codes as you want for $60.

Finally, if you have a R56, you've probably heard of the dreaded carbon build-up on the intake valves. It robs the cars of performance, efficiency, and smooth operation. There's only one reliable way to clean off the build-up, and that's a Walnut Shell Blasting service. We'll be offering it at the Dragon for $350--less than half of what MINI dealerships charge to do the service. We have the factory tools to get it done right, and make your car run as it did when it was new.

If anybody has questions, or would like to reserve a time slot with us, please call Helix at 267 335 4337.

In other good news, I've paid my speeding ticket from last year.

The hazard lights blink in a two-blink pattern followed by a pause, as opposed to the steady rate blink. Warning: this mod will instantly transform you into a God. As soon as you flip the blinkers on, you will smite infidels and create universes. It's true.

Allow for 2-3 hours for the walnut shell blasting. If you want to reserve a spot for the blasting, coding, or other stuff, we are taking appointments. You can call us at 267 335 4337 or drop me an email at Eric at Helix (thirteen) dot com.

I'm trying to convince my husband to do this for his 2009 JCW. When he first bought it in 2010 I did a seafoam treatment and it smoked like crazy. Kind of worries me that there's a lot of crud in there. I'll pass on the info

I'll ask Mikey, our technician. Too bad Ian Cull's auto-up tool is for 1st gen cars only.

Thanks a bunch for the response. It looks like it's going to be a busy Dragon. We still have slots available Wednesday morning and Saturday morning for bigger mechanical work. If you want control arm bushings, walnut shell cleaning, pulleys, swaybars or the like, drop us a line so we can be sure to fit you in.
